South India's first 'Kisan Rail' carrying vegetables and fruits from Andhra Pradesh reaches Delhi
Friday, 11 September 2020 () With an aim to help farmers to sell their produce, South India's first 'Kisan Rail', carrying 332 tonnes of vegetables and fruits from Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur reached Adarsh Nagar railway station on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level virtual meeting with Chief Ministers and Health Ministers of seven COVID-19 high burden (States/UT Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Punjab) to review response and management. While addressing in the meeting, PM Modi said, "There are more than 700 districts in the country but only 60 districts in 7 states are a cause of worry." "I suggest CMs to hold virtual conference with people at district/block level for 7 days. We have to learn from the best practices from across the states," PM Modi added.
Farmers intensified their protests across the country on Friday. Several roads were blocked by the protesting farmers. Farmers in Uttar Pradesh occupied the streets and several political parties joined the protests. Congress workers, AAP, Samajwadi Party workers joined protesting farmers. Delhi-Noida border was blocked due to the protest. Farmers in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy were seen protesting with skulls and chains. Farmers sat outside the collector’s office. Protest intensified in Punjab as farmers gathered in large numbers. Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, along with Harsimrat Kaur Badal, was seen holding a tractor rally. BJP national president JP Nadda paid tribute to Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary at party's headquarters in Delhi on September 25. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and Dr Harsh Vardhan also paid tribute to Jana Sangh leader. A car with two men inside was seen getting washed away in flood waters in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur. The incident was recorded by onlookers. The driver tried crossing an over-flowing river body but got stuck in the strong current. The driver could not get past the strong current and the car was seen getting washed away. It was reported that the car continued to go downstream for about 100 meters before the locals intervened and helped. Reportedly, locals ventured in the neck-deep water and rescued the two men trapped inside the car. Water bodies in Karnataka are overflowing due to monsoon rain.
