Sushant's death case not poll issue; LJP, JD(U) tussle not big problem: Devendra Fadnavis
Friday, 11 September 2020 () Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that Sushant Singh Rajput's death case was not an election issue in Bihar but a common man's issue, and asserted that his party would ensure justice to the telented actor.
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP's Bihar Polls in-charge Devendra Fadnavis on September 25 said that the people of the state have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also in Nitish Kumar governance, which has worked for the benefit of the people. "For the 1st time such a large exercise is to be held in world during COVID. People of Bihar have faith in Modi ji, also govt under Nitish Kumar ji and Sushil Modi ji has worked for people. It'll be re-elected," said Fadnavis.
Speaking on the retired Navy officer who was alleged beaten up by Shiv Sena workers in Mumbai on September 09, former chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis on September 12 strongly criticized the incident and likened it with "kind of state-sponsored terror". He said, "It's very wrong and kind of 'state-sponsored terror' situation. I called upon Uddhav through my tweet to stop goonda raj. 6 accused were released in 10 minutes." Six people including Shiv Sena's Kamlesh Kadam were arrested but later granted bail in connection with the attack on Madan Sharma over a forwarded cartoon on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The Hindustan Awam Morcha (S) led by Jitan Ram Manjhi is all set to join the NDA on Thursday. The decision comes months ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly polls slated for later this year. Manjhi, who left the NDA in 2018 to join hands with the Mahagathbandhan, will help the NDA in its Dalit outreach in the state. While the formal announcement of his joining the NDA, will be made by Manjhi himself on Thursday, party spokesperson Danish Rizwan said that HAM (S) will not merge with any other party and is joining the NDA as it wants development in the state. The party spokesperson lauded the effort of PM Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during these tough times. HAM’S induction into the NDA comes at a time when JDU and the LDP have been engaged in a cold war ahead of the polls. Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan were quizzed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in drug case related to Sushant Singh’s death. Deepika was questioned for over five hours at NCB’s Colaba guest house while Shraddha and Sara were summoned at a separate office. The top Bollywood actresses were summoned by NCB earlier. The NCB questioned prominent stars like Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor today. Deepika was at the NCB guesthouse for over 5 hours. Sara reportedly admitted being close to Sushant but denied consuming drugs. Apparently both Sara and Shraddha told officials that they has seen Sushant consume drugs.

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, in support with Sushant Singh’s family, said the CBI should investigate the death of actor first. Athwale was speaking on the current NCB probe of big Bollywood actors in drug case related to Sushant’s death. Athawale said the NCB probe should continue but CBI should come to a conclusion soon. Sena leader leader Sanjay Raut said if Bihar doesn't have enough issues, Mumbai can parcel some. The Sena leader's jibe comes a day after the Election Commission announced the schedule of Bihar polls. Bihar is slated to go to polls in three phases on October 28, November 3 and 7. "Bihar polls should be fought on issues of development, law and order and good governance. But if these issues have exhausted, issues from Mumbai can be sent as parcel," Raut said. Earlier, the Rajya Sabha MP had alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput's death was being used as a poll issue in Bihar. On Friday, the MP also hinted that Shiv Sena may contest in Bihar Assembly polls. State police departments of Bihar and Maharashtra locked horns over probe into the actor's death. Former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey had accused Maharashtra Police of not co-operating. Raut has recently criticised questioning of several Bollywood celebrities by NCB in a drug case related to Sushant Singh's death.

Chairman of Congress Screening Committee for Bihar polls, Avinash Pande stated that the party is fully prepared to fight the elections on all 243 seats. "Congress is fully prepared to fight the elections on all 243 seats in Bihar Assembly. If we reach a 'respectable' understanding with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), we will contest the elections with them," said Pande.
