Saturday, 12 September 2020 () Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan between them account for nearly half of all children born in India each year but have barely one-sixth of the paediatricians in the country. The imbalance between where the need for child specialists is and where they are available is just as pronounced within states, with most of them concentrated in the bigger cities while the villages are where most children are.

A 24-year-old woman approached a family court when she was allegedly defeated several times in Ludo games by her father in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. During the lockdown period, the young woman, her two siblings and their father used to play the board game. After losing a game, the young woman developed resentment against her father, which increased over time and the family had to undergo counselling sessions to resolve the issue. Speaking to ANI, a counsellor in Bhopal Family Court, Sarita Rajani said, "Nowadays, children are unable to endure defeat which is why such cases come up. They need to learn to accept defeat which is as important as winning. A 24-year-old young woman had come to us and said that when she was playing Ludo with her siblings and father, her father killed her tokens (goti) and she felt it was a breach of trust. She said she had trusted her father a lot and didn't expect to be defeated by him. The woman said she lost respect for her father as he went on to defeat her." "She feels that her father should have lost in the game for the sake of her happiness. Her father defeated her several times over time. Her anger increased and she stopped addressing him as father. She has been counselled four times till now and the situation is improving. We will find a positive solution," she added. Rajani said that the girl did not share her feelings with her family and decided to seek counselling about the matter. She said the young woman is currently pursuing her studies, and the family lives in Bhopal city. The girl does not have a mother and she is the youngest of three siblings. "People have high expectations from family members and if there is a slight shortcoming, it causes tensions. Nowadays, children are unable to bear defeat," counsellor further stated.
While addressing at the inauguration event of various development projects in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on September 26, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said, "Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan gave Rs 25,000 under Kanyadaan Yojana, they (Congress) said we will give Rs 51,000. Many marriages happened, a year went by but the money never reached. Those who betray trust of mothers-daughters, they are not unfaithful but traitors," Scindia added.
A para-cycling rally organised by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has reached Rajasthan's Jaipur on September 26. The para-cycling rally started from Gujarat's Sabarmati Ashram on September 17. It will culminate at Raj Ghat in Delhi on October 02 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Around 24 members are participating in para-cycling rally including 6 women. Speaking to ANI, a CRPF commandant said, "The para-cycling rally started from Sabarmati Ashram on September 17 and will culminate at Raj Ghat in Delhi on October 02."
Several people gathered and blocked National Highway 8 near Dungarpur in Rajasthan on September 24. They were protesting over 2018 teachers' recruitment issue. Protestors pelted stones on police personnel as part of their demonstration. Several police personnel were injured and few were admitted to the hospital. They are demanding recruitment of reserved category candidates on vacant unreserved positions for teachers since 2018.
Chairman of Congress Screening Committee for Bihar polls, Avinash Pande stated that the party is fully prepared to fight the elections on all 243 seats. "Congress is fully prepared to fight the elections on all 243 seats in Bihar Assembly. If we reach a 'respectable' understanding with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), we will contest the elections with them," said Pande. The elections in the state will be held in 3 phases on October 28, November 3 and 7 and counting of votes will take place on November 10.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced names of the party's national office bearers on September 26. Reorganization in party comes a day after announcement of Bihar assembly elections. Dr Raman Singh, Mukul Roy, Annapurna Devi, Baijyant Jay Panda among those appointed as national vice presidents of the party. Tejasvi Surya appointed Yuva Morcha President.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a substantial promise to the residents of the capital. He vowed to ensure 24x7 clean running water in all houses in the next 5 years. Kejriwal said that the process for the same had started with the Delhi Jal Board initiating the hiring of a consultant to advise the authorities on how to go about implementing their plan. The CM said that the process would have begun in March or April 2020 but was derailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He also said that Delhi is in talks with governments of various states like Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to increase water supply to the capital. Water woes plague many areas of the capital with residents depending on water tankers for their basic needs. Farmers intensified their protests across the country on Friday. Several roads were blocked by the protesting farmers.
