Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane lashed out at Pakistan over its continued support to terrorists. Speaking at the Army Day celebration, the Army Chief said that Indian forces have been giving a stern response to provocations at the border and added that around 300 to 400 terrorists are waiting across the border to infiltrate into India. He also added that forces have thwarted numerous infiltration attempts by terrorists into Kashmir. The Army Chief also added that there has been a 44% rise in ceasefire violations by Pakistan. During the Army Day celebrations on January 15, Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane told that over 200 terrorists near LoC and in counter-terrorism operations in last year. "Around 300-400 terrorists are sitting in training camps near the border to infiltrate into the Indian territory. Number of ceasefire violations went up by 44 per cent last year, which shows the nefarious intentions of Pakistan. Last year, the Army eliminated over 200 terrorists near LoC and in counter-terrorism operations," said General MM Naravane.
Asserting that the made in India light combat aircraft Tejas is far better and advanced than the Chinese-Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets, Air Force chief RKS Bhadauria on Thursday said the latest Indian jet would be better equipped to carry out Balakot-type airstrikes. the Air Chief said the 83 indigenous fighter jets to be inducted into the force would also be equipped with homegrown weapons such as the Astra beyond visual range air to air missiles and other standoff weapons. "Indian aircraft Tejas is far better and advanced than the Chinese and Pakistan joint venture JF-17 fighter," Bhadauria said when asked to compare the Indian fighter with the JF-17. On Jan 15, President Ram Nath Kovind made the first contribution towards the construction of Ram Mandir, which is to be built in UP's Ayodhya. Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) working president, Alok Kumar said, "He is the first citizen of the country so we went to him to initiate this drive. He donated a sum of Rs 5,01,000." Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also made the contribution for construction of Ram Mandir. He handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to a leader of Vishva Hindu Parishad. He said, "I am grateful to be part of such mission." Ram Mandir is to be built at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi in UP's Ayodhya.
Rallies were held in different parts of the world to mark the anniversary of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. In Sylhet city of Bangladesh anti-terrorism rally was held where activists condemn terrorism in all its forms. They demanded peace and tranquility in Bangladesh and the rest of the world. In Nepal's Birgunj town, a motorcycle rally was held on the occasion. The protesters condemned Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism. More than 160 people killed in a 2008 Islamist militant attack in Mumbai. India blamed militants links to the Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group for the attacks. India and the United States accused Hafiz Saeed, who founded the LeT, of being the attack mastermind.
The Congress workers in Bhopal launched a campaign to collect funds for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Party workers distributed pamphlets and asked individual to contribute directly to bank account of the temple trust. Government of India setup an independent trust named 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra' for the construction of Ram Temple. Congress leader PC Sharma said, "We urge people to send contributions directly to bank account of the temple trust and not give it to any individual."
An old age home in Ayodhya, which is house of 45 women, is facing lack of helpers due to less funding. Women from different parts of the country, facing numerous kinds of family issue reside here. Every woman has a story and suffering of its own. At the old age home, women are provided with food and medicines. They keep themselves busy through various activities including singing. Their happiness after living in the old age home is clearly evident. With only 3 caretakers, the old age home is facing lack of helpers as the funding is very poor. They urged the government for not increasing their budget to run the shelter but to also increase the deposited amount in the bank accounts of these old women.
