Drug debate: After Jaya Bachchan vs Kangana Ranaut, Shiv Sena wades into row

Shiv Sena waded into the row over alleged drug abuse in Bollywood. Sena's Sanjay Raut commented on Jaya Bachchan's speech in Parliament. Actor-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan had indirectly slammed Kangana Ranaut. Bachchan had said that people who got famous via film industry called it 'gutter'. Ranaut has alleged that 99% people who work in Bollywood have been exposed to drugs. A day earlier, actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan had also raised the same topic in Lok Sabha. “Jaya Bachchan put forth her stand in Rajya Sabha. This was necessary. The (film) industry is like cultural heritage. It's so old. The entire nation is connected to the entertainment sector. Some people are spreading bad things about the industry. This isn't defaming only the industry, but also the nation's culture and tradition. Drugs racket etc etc. Is this only in the (film) industry? Isn't this present in politics, in other sectors? If this is going on in all areas then it is the responsibility of the government, as well as ours, to stop it. This is what Jaya ji said. The film industry is being defamed because of a few people. This industry gives employment to 5 lakh people - from top to bottom. The people who are trying to finish this must be stopped. Only Jaya Bachchan can speak on this without apprehension,” said Raut.

‘Sushant case being politicised to garner votes in Bihar’: Congress attacks BJP

Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil has accused the BJP led NDA of trying to politicize actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death for garnering votes in Bihar. Addressing the media, Gohil said that some were trying to gain political mileage out of the death of the actor and asserted that the first to demand a CBI probe in the case was a Congress party MLA. He said that those who think that people would forget issues like migrant crisis, lack of jobs, Covid mishandling are foolish. Gohil also added that some film star is summoned every single day to attempt to divert the attention of the people from the real issue. He added that probe agencies are not supposed to make any evidence public during investigation, but still Whatsapp chats are made public. He said that this is a well thought out strategy and the Modi model in action. CBI, ED and NCB are probing different angles linked to the actor’s death. Several top stars including Deepika Padukone have been summoned by the NCB in the drug probe as well. Watch the full video for all the details.

Agriculture bills will turn farmers into slaves: DMK in Rajya Sabha

Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ram Gopal Yadav on September 20 said that the Central government is rushing with the agricultural bills and alleged that it did not even consult any farmers association on the issue. "They are bringing bills related to agricultural sectors on which over 60 per cent population of the country depend upon, but it appears that there is a compulsion that the ruling party does not want a debate or discussion on these Bills. They are only rushing through these bills. You have not even consulted any farmers association. You have not discussed even with RSS'S Majdoor Kisan Sangh," Yadav said during a discussion on two agriculture Bills in the Rajya Sabha. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP TKS Elangovan also opposed the bill and said that the bills on agriculture sector reform will turn farmers into slaves. "Farmers who contribute at least 20 per cent to the total GDP of the country, will be turned into slaves by this bill. This bill will not help farmers. It will kill the farmers and make them a commodity," Elangovan said in the Rajya Sabha.
