India's Covid-19 tally crosses 50-lakh mark

India's Covid-19 case tally crossed the 50-lakh mark with a spike of 90,123 new cases and 1,290 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday. The total case tally in the country stands at 50,20,360 including 9,95,933 active cases, 39,42,361 cured/discharged/migrated and 82,066 deaths, as per the Ministry.

Record 12 lakh COVID tests conducted across India in last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, 12 lakh COVID tests were conducted across the country which is an all-time record high. India's total number of coronavirus tests is more than 6.37 crore so far. Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 case tally crossed 54-lakh mark with a spike of 92,605 new cases and 1,133 deaths in last 24 hours. According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total case tally stands at 54,00,620 including 10,10,824 active cases, 43,03,044 cured/discharged/migrated and 86,752 deaths. As per Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 6,36,61,060 samples were tested up to 19th Sep, of these, 12,06,806 samples were tested yesterday.

Covid: ‘50 lakh cases but almost 45 lakh recoveries’, says Health Secretary

With India recording the highest number of COVID-19 recoveries in the world, the government on Tuesday said that for the past four consecutive days the number of daily recovered cases surpassed the new infections reported per day. Addressing a press briefing, Union Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said India has the highest number of recovered cases in the world at 44,97,867. "India's COVID-19 cases share is 17.7 per cent of global infections, while those who have recuperated are 19.5 per cent of total recoveries in world. The daily recoveries from COVID-19 more than number of new infections reported per day since past four consecutive days," he said.
