PM Modi goes on offensive against opposition, calls agri bills ‘pro-farmer’

A day after BJP’s oldest ally Shiromani Akali Dal pulled out of the Modi government to protest against the legislations meant to restructure agricultural trade, and amid continuing opposition from Congress and some other parties, PM Narendra Modi went on the offensive on Friday and called the bills a “historic” pro-farmer measure and dismissed the resistance as having been engineered by “middlemen”.
