The walls in Uttarakhand's Haridwar are being painted with colourful theme. Walls are painted on the theme of Hindu mythology, in light of Maha Kumbh Mela. It has been painted at the places of tourists' interest. Maha Kumbh Mela had begun on 'Makar Sankranti' on January 14 will continue till April. It will be held for 48 days instead of the usual three-and-half-months. The Maha Kumbh in Haridwar is being held after twelve years.

Big win but won't stop until team 'Tandav' is in jail: Ram Kadam on maker's apology

After director Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted an apology note over the 'Tandav' outrage, BJP leader Ram Kadam called it a "big win", but said they will not stop until the cast and crew are behind the bars. "For last 6 hours, we were protesting outside Mumbai-situated Amazon office over the web-series 'Tandav' and we compelled them to apologise...This is our big win. And at last due to our pressure, 'Tandav' team had to apologise in front of whole country. But only apology won't work. We will protest until the whole team of 'Tandav' gets in jail...We'll go on hunger strike in front of Ghatkopar police station tomorrow morning and will compel them to file the FIR," said Ram Kadam. After web-series 'Tandav' landed in major trouble, director Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted an apology note over the outrage. Several FIRs have been filed against the makers of the web-series across country and the complainants cited "mocking of Hindu religious sentiments" as reason of their outrage. Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, 'Tandav' stars Saif Ali Khan, Sunil Grover in prominent roles.

Surat-based diamond merchant donates Rs 11 crore for Ram temple construction in Ayodhya

A diamond merchant from Gujarat's Surat has made a contribution of Rs 11 crore for the construction of the Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. The diamond trader, Govind Dholakiya, belongs to the family of farmers. He studied till 7th standard and later started working in the diamond Industry. After working for a few years, Dholakiya decided to open up his own diamond company along with his friends.

New mosque in Ayodhya: Design revealed; bigger than Babri, and spherical

Design of a new mosque planned in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya was revealed on December 20. The UP Sunni Central Waqf Board unveiled the blueprint, work on which will begin once the Faizabad Panchayat District Board gives its approval. Apart from a mosque, the site will have a 300-bed specialty hospital and a museum. The 5-acre land was allotted by the state government following the Supreme Court's judgment in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute. Watch the full video for more details.

Custom official found with Rs 75 lakh at Bengaluru airport

A custom official was found with Rs 75 lakh in cash at the Bengaluru airport on January 19. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials intercepted Mohammad Irfan who was travelling to Lucknow along with his wife, and recovered the huge cash from his possession. CISF officials informed the Income Tax Department for further investigation into the matter.

Indian Army has organised a four-day recruitment drive for women in Uttar Pradesh. The recruitment drive has been organised at AMC stadium in Lucknow Cantonment. The Army is conducting tests to recruit eligible candidates in military police. Around 8,000 women have registered themselves for the recruitment drive. The four-day recruitment drive for women will conclude on January 21. Major General NS Rajpurohit, ADG (Recruitment), Indian Army said "We will be covering 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and 15 in Uttarakhand. We are happy to see that a lot of women have participated with enthusiasm in this drive. This is the second phase of the recruitment process, they are here for physical tests. Around 8,000 candidates have registered themselves for the recruitment process.

4-day Indian Army recruitment drive begins for women in Lucknow

A four-day recruitment drive started for women in UP's Lucknow. Indian Army conducted a test for recruitment of several female candidates in Military Police (MP) in the second phase for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Recruitment is being held in Lucknow from January 18 to 21. Around 8000 women got registered in the entire process after application round from both the states. They have been called for physical and medical tests in a phased manner.
