While reacting on South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC's) revival and India-Pak resolving issues, the Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah said, "More connected the region is, the more we will benefit. It's not for us to decide for any country, that's the accepted fact. Through more connectivity in region, all the countries will benefit." On being asked about Pak-based terror groups hijacking Afghan peace process, "It won't mean peace if we only have agreement with Taliban and other terror groups continue freelancing in Afghanistan." Abdullah Abdullah also talked about consequences if the US leaving Afghan peace process, "Premature withdrawal by the US from peace deal will leave a vacuum, which will have an impact on the security situation in Afghanistan. But it won't mean one side prevailing over another," said Abdullah.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid foundation stone for Nechiphu Tunnel on road to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh via video conferencing. Defence Minister also inaugurated 44 bridges on October 12 made by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across seven States/Union Territories, via video-conferencing. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, Indian Army chief MM Naravane and MoS Dr Jitendra Singh were present on the occasion. Addressing the event, Rajnath said, "The construction of these bridges will facilitate military and civil transport in our western, northern and north-east areas." "Our armed forces personnel are deployed in large numbers in areas where transport is not available throughout the year," Defence Minister added. "Even during the lockdown period, BRO continued operations in the North-Eastern states, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. BRO continued its work ensuring that snow clearance is not delayed at remote locations," he further stated. Last week, the Defence Minister had said that the strategically important Atal Tunnel is dedicated to the armed forces protecting India's borders and those living in the remote terrains."I do not need to explain the importance of this tunnel. Its strategic importance is understood by everyone. It will ensure speedy and faster transportation of rations, weapons and other logistics. It will also help in faster deployment of personnel. Situated on the border of two nations, it is dedicated to those protecting our borders, and those who live in those areas," Singh said at the inaugural ceremony in Manali.
The Indian Air Force celebrated its 88th anniversary with a grand parade and scintillating air display at the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. The event was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief MM Naravane and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh. IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria inspected the parade which was followed a majestic air display. The highlight of the air show this time around was the newly inducted Rafale jets which took part in the air display. The Rafale flew in the 'Vijay' formation, flanked by two Jaguars and Mirage 2000 each. It also carried out a minimum radius turn within an area smaller than a hockey field forming a figure of eight. The Air Force Day is celebrated to mark the day the IAF was established in 1932. Wishes poured in for the IAF from across the political spectrum with President Kovind and PM Modi leading the way. India is celebrating 88th anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on October 08 at Hindon airbase in UP's Ghaziabad. IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria inspected the 88th parade at airbase. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff, General Manoj Mukund Naravane and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh attended the 88th IAF celebrations. 'Nishan Toli' was led by Squadron Leader Shivangi Rajawat. IAF was established on October 8, 1932, under colonial rule. It was given the prefix 'Royal' by King George VI for its contribution during the Second World War. The prefix was later dropped in 1950 when India became a republic.
National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on September 10 and Minister of the armed forces of Florence Parly met at Hyderabad House in the national capital. Minister Florence Parly was the chief guest for Rafale induction ceremony held earlier today at Air Force Station, Ambala. The first five Rafale aircraft will be part of 17 Squadron, the "Golden Arrows".The aircraft had arrived at Air Force Station, Ambala from France on July 27, 2020. Parly said it is a great pride to see the first five Rafale jets inducted in time in the Indian Air Force despite the COVID-19 crisis.
Dassault CEO Eric Trappier said he would be happy to repeat orders for Rafale aircraft if Indian Air Force wants. Trappier was speaking during the induction ceremony of Rafale jets. Indian Army 19 RR in collaboration with Pune based NGO, Aseem foundation organised a women's cricket tournament in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. 4 women cricket teams participated from Anantnag and Kulgam districts in the tournament held at Sports Stadium Dooru Shahabad. Female cricketers hailed the initiative and urged the parents to support their children in pursuing their career in sports. Female Ranji Trophy player Rubiya Syed said that it is a happy moment for girls that Indian Army has organized this tournament. Rubiya said, "The matches that are taking place here are being conducted by the Army. The intension behind is that if any girl is coming out through these camps then will get a chance to go to Pune and be a part of academies. So, it's a matter of happiness for us." Aseem Foundation president, Pune Sarang Gosavi said that the foundation will provide sponsorship for education and sports of the selected candidates.
Continuing its efforts to provide a comeback chance to the misguided youth of Kashmir, Indian Army on October 16 successfully persuaded Jahangir Ah Bhat, a 31-year-old shopkeeper gone rogue after missing from Chadoora town, to surrender in Budgam. He was apprehended with one AK rifle. Chinar Corps of the Indian Army executed the dramatic operation in which they persuaded him to surrender. Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said, "Special Police Officer Altaf Hassan Bhat, posted in Budgam, had decamped with two AK-47 rifles and three magazines, two days back along with his friend Jahangir Bhat. Area was cordoned by security forces and firing had ensued. SPO managed to escape, Jahangir was nabbed."
Heavy rainfall has been lashing Andhra Pradesh leading to flood-like situation in several parts of the state. Over ten people have died in different parts of the state. Several houses collapsed leading many to shift to safer places. A team from the Indian Army also rescued people from rain affected areas using boats. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy also visited the rain affected areas while Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with district officials via video conference. He has ordered to provide Rs 500 financial aid to those in the rehabilitation camps, so that they do not face problems after going to their houses. The Central government has also offered assistance to the state in tiding over the situation. The CM said that the deep depression, which caused the heavy rain since Monday, has crossed the land and that normalcy is being restored.
