JandK Police have arrested a person named Kuljeet Kumar from Samba district on October 08. He has been arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan. The accused has been produced before Court. Further details awaited.
Jammu and Kashmir tourism department organized two-day (17 and 18 OCT) autumn festival in Pahalgam. The main objective of festival is to revive the tourism sector in town which was badly affected due to COVID-19. The festival included an exhibition of village crafts, tapestry of cottage, craft and handicraft. About 20 stalls displaying traditional art, craft and ethnic cuisine were set up at the Pahalgam Club. The festival was inaugurated by the advisor to Lieutenant Governor. A three hour cultural programme was also organised.
Border Security Force (BSF) held second round of recruitment process in form of written test on Oct 18 for the post of constable in BSF and CISF for youth from 22 districts of J-K and Ladakh. Thousands Kashmiri youth participated in the recruitment drive in Budgam. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing norm was followed at the test center. After physical test, 5,151 male and 438 female candidates were found fit to appear for the written test today.
Police used water cannon and lathi-charge to disperse BJP workers during 'Nabanna Chalo' protest at Hastings in Kolkata on October 08. The similar incident was witnessed at Howrah. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee said, "Police is lathi charging our people...Stone-pelting being done from Khidirpur side. Can't the police see that?" BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "This is Mamata Banerjee's dictatorship. We were doing protest democratically but they turned this into violent." BJP began state-wide 'Nabanna Chalo' agitation march today to protest against the alleged killing of its party workers.

The joint opposition front Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) arrived at Karachi's Bagh-e-Jinnah for the second power show here. Thousands of people assembled for the anti-government rally. People were seen waving opposition parties flag and raising slogans. This is second such rally after the one held in Gujranwala on October 16.
