Adani Group takes over Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport

Adani Group has taken over the operations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The Airports Authority of India completed all the procedure and handed over the airport operations to the Adani Group. The ceremony of handing over the key of the airport was held at the midnight on November 06. The management, operations and development of the airport will now be handled by the Adani Group from November 07 for the period of 50 years. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport recorded footfall of 1.14 crore passengers in 2019-20. This step by Adani Group is expected to strengthen and expand the airport business.

The Airports Authority of India laid out protective layers across all airports including the Guwahati Airport to combat the spread of the virus A host of safety measures were introduced and enforced. Right from the entry gates to the flight take- off, all touchpoints are regularly and repeatedly sanitized at the airport. The authorities also ensured that the orderly and cautious process didn't turn out to be an inconvenience for the passengers. A large portion of pre-travel paperwork has been shifted online so that the passengers could move without panic at the airport. The airport, in order to meet its futuristic demands, is also working to expand its infrastructure. A new integrated building at the cost of 1,232 Crore is being constructed. Once ready, the new terminal building will be capable of handling 4,300 domestic and 200 international passengers at peak hours, thereby enhancing the annual capacity from six million to ten million. With multiple check-in counters, self-check kiosk, Baggage carousels, In-Line baggage security screening system and Aero Bridges, the terminal will also be an energy-efficient building. The new terminal building is scheduled to be ready by June, 2022. AAI is committed to serve the Nation by enhancing passenger safety and building infrastructure with modern facilities.

Thermal screening is being conducted for all passengers. Those who do not produce RT-PCR negative Test done within 48 hrs of boarding have to go through a rapid antigen test at the airport. Airport authorities are ensuring proper sanitization of public areas and luggage. They also follow strict compliance to social distancing norms at the airport. Passengers are appreciative of the efforts being made by the airport authorities to keep Coronavirus at bay.
