Some trying to make a dent in NDA: Nadda's indirect attack on Chirag
Monday, 26 October 2020 BJP chief J P Nadda Monday said some people are trying to make a dent in the NDA alliance during the ongoing polls in Bihar and "we should remain cautious against them", in remarks seen as an oblique attack on LJPpresidentChirag Paswan.
Speaking to media in Mumbai on December 04, Minority Affairs Minister of Maharashtra and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) senior leader, Nawab Malik spoke on Maharashtra Legislative Council results. Malik said, "Results certify the formation of Maha Vikas Aghadi and work done by us in the past one year. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) needs to understand the truth." "Their claim about change of government after the elections has been proven hollow," he added. Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate Arun Lad won the Pune graduate constituency seat, defeating National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Sangram Deshmukh by around 48,800 votes.
SAD leader and former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal returned his Padma Vibhushan award on Thursday. The five-time former CM returned his Padma award in protest against the new farm laws. SAD, one of the oldest constituents of NDA, had snapped ties with BJP in September 2020. SAD pulled out of the alliance to protest against the agriculture laws enacted by Centre. In a letter emailed to President, Badal listed his reasons for feeling 'hurt and betrayed'. He regretted that the union govt remains indifferent to sufferings of the farmers. Badal felt apologetic that the pleas of farmer friendly parties like SAD were mocked. Incidentally, SAD (Democratic) chief Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa also returned his Padma Bhushan. The Rajya Sabha MP was presented the Padma Bhushan award by President Kovind in March 2019. Dhindsa parted ways with SAD after political differences with chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha by-election as an NDA (National Democratic Alliance) candidate in Patna on December 02. He was accompanied by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. He said, "Sushil Modi has our full support." Voting for Rajya Sabha by-election is scheduled on December 14. The seat was left vacant after demise of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
Speaking to ANI in Patna on November 11, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi spoke on Bihar election results. Manjhi said, "There is a saying 'don't cut the branch on which you sit'. Same way, Chirag Paswan worked towards defeating the fold he was part of. Result is clear, the branch has been cut, but he also fell. 'Apne chirag se bhasm ho gaye hain vo'."
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) secured only one seat in Bihar assembly elections. LJP chief Chirag Paswan on party's performance said that "around 25 lakh voters trusted 'Bihar First, Bihari First' and we secured 6% votes contesting alone." "Happy that Bihar gave love to LJP, around 25 Lakh voters trusted 'Bihar First, Bihari First' and we secured 6% votes while contesting alone. We were called 'pichhlaggu party' that can do something only with other's support. We showed courage," said Chirag Paswan.
National President of Bharatiya Janata Party Jagat Prakash Nadda showed his satisfaction on the GHMC election results. Hailing his party workers Nadda said, "The historic result for BJP in Hyderabad GHMC elections shows people's unequivocal support towards PM Modi's development and governance model. I want to thank the people of Hyderabad." "The people of Hyderabad have made it clear what will be the results of the Telangana assembly elections (2023). I can say with confidence that people of Telangana have decided to say goodbye to the corrupt KCR government," BJP president added.
BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiyainformed that national president of Bharatiya Janata Party JP Nadda will visit Kolkata on December 8th-9th. He will inaugurate BJP's election campaign office in Kolkata. "On 9th, he will attend a meeting with fish cultivators in Diamond Harbour and will have a meeting with the election management committees of three districts," he said.
Several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were injured in a clash with TMC workers. Bomb was hurled and shots were also fired during the clash. Clash took place during a door-to-door campaign organized by the BJP at Jamgram area.
MoS Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy expressed firm belief that the BJP will form government in Telangana in 2023. On results of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls, BJP leader said, "Hyderabad is mini Telangana. People showed support and gave blessings to BJP with 48 seats. People are against Asaduddin Owaisi. Neither Owaisi nor KCR nor anyone else can stop BJP from forming govt in 2023." On being asked about the possibility of AIMIM-TRS coalition for running Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Reddy said, "Owaisi and KCR fought the elections together. They both eat 'biryani' together. KCR has planned this sitting at home."
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on December 05 took a fresh jibe at Amit Shah and said that Congress MLAs were ashamed of seeing him as Union Home Minister. He also blamed BJP for allegedly trying to topple the state government. "They (BJP) tried to make the government fall in Rajasthan. After meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel, Dharmendra Pradhan our MLAs told me that they were ashamed to see Amit Shah as Home Minister. There was a time when Sardar Patel was Home Minister and now it's him. They (BJP) were giving assurance that they have made five different governments fall and this will be the sixth one. BJP has been conspiring like this," said Gehlot.
Speaking to ANI in Bihar's Patna on December 04, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav spoke on all-party meeting on COVID-19.Yadav said, "Despite being the single largest party of Bihar, RJD has not been invited for the all-party meeting to discuss the COVID-19 situation." "It shows that the meeting is just show-off," he added.
Bihar Police arrested 17 criminals and seized 14 country-made pistols and 1 quintal ganja from their possession on December 03. Case has been registered against them under relevant sections of IPC. The campaign for seizing illegal arms is in full swing in Bihar. Further probe is underway.
