BJP’s Kerala Chief K surendran has said that the party will bring ‘Love Jihad’ legislation if they are elected to power in the state. He further alleged that the ISIS is targeting Hindu and Christian girls in Kerala. ‘ISIS is targeting Hindu-Christian girls especially students. Why are they sending couples to Syria if there is no love jihad? Surendran said. Speaking on 'Love Jihad', Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, V Muraleedharan on March 29 stated that mainstream parties should speak about the issue. "BJP didn't rake up this issue, it's been existing in society. Christian community is worried about marriages happening in the guise of love, which aims at conversion. Mainstream parties should speak about the issue," Muraleedharan told ANI. Earlier, Jose K Mani, the chairman of regional Christian party, raked up the alleged "love jihad" issue in comments ahead of the Kerala Assembly election.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday released the election manifesto for the Bharatiya Janta Party for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, which promises new legislation for Sabrimala, at least one job for every family, six gas cylinders for BPL families and free laptops for high school students. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. The 69-year-old Congress leader made the announcement on Twitter. Gehlot isolated himself on Wednesday after his wife Sunita had tested positive. PM Narendra Modi wished good health and speedy recovery to Gehlot, his wife. Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra also wished for Gehlot's speedy recovery. Meanwhile, former PM Manmohan Singh was discharged from AIIMS Delhi. The 88-year-old Congress veteran was hospitalised after testing positive for Covid. Singh was admitted to AIIMS trauma centre, a dedicated Covid facility, on April 19. Singh received the first dose of Covid vaccine on March 4 & second dose on April 3.

Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia lambasted state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over phone tapping allegations and asked him to resign on moral grounds. BJP also demanded CBI probe in this regard. "The questions (over phone-tapping issue) were raised in August last year and the response has come now. It is a serious matter. Chief Minister must take responsibility and resign on moral grounds. In view of COVID-19 vaccine shortage in the county, Rajasthan Transport Minister Pratap Khachariyawas on May 08 urged Centre to provide free vaccines for the people and said free COVID vaccine is the right of every citizen of this country and it should be given to all without any discussion. "People are gasping for oxygen and you (Centre) took control of oxygen management in your hands. If you can't manage then let the states manage on their own. Free vaccine is the right of every citizen of this country. It should be given to all without any discussion... They (Centre) have put GST on vaccines and started increasing prices of petrol and diesel after Bengal elections," said Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Khachariyawas on COVID situation in the country.
24 states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal have more than 15% positivity rate for COVID-19 in their daily infections, informed Union Health Ministry. "Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Haryana and Bihar have a high caseload," said Arti Ahuja, Additional Secretary (Health) while addressing a press conference in Delhi.
A 1,000-bed hospital is being built for COVID patients in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district which will start functioning from the end of this month. According to District Collector Deepak Singh construction work of the hospital in full swing and the hospital will be completed within the next three weeks. "This month, a target has been set to commission the 1,000 bed hospital. The work is going on very fast. Hopefully, in the next two weeks, we will complete the civil work. We will start the hospital by making arrangements in the next one week."
