Indian Army organised Jammu and Kashmir's biggest talent hunt-cum-music concert show ''SHAURYA'' at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar on January 18. Famous Bollywood singer, Sukhwinder Singh performed live at SKICC in front of an enthralling gathering. On the occasion, senior officers of Army and a large number of music lovers were present. J and K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also attended the event. Sinha also felicitated young achievers of Kashmir Valley who have performed well in different fields.
Kashmir IG of Police, Vijay Kumar said that three person who killed in Lawaypora encounter that happened in JandK last month, were involved and supporting logistics for militants. IG Vijay Kumar said, "All three persons, who were killed in the encounter (last month), were involved and were supporting logistics. We want 10 more days to collect the evidence."
Speaking to ANI in Srinagar on January 17, GOC of Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General BS Raju said, "Terrorists' recruitment in 2020 was fairly in control, especially when compared to 2018. The present strength of terrorists in the Valley is 217 which is lowest in the last one decade."
Senator Mark Warner spoke on the issue of terrorism during the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. Senator Warner said that India has shown a lot of restraint in dealing with terrorism. He further added that many terror organizations have received safe haven in Pakistan. Senator Warner also spoke on US decision to reduce troops in Afghanistan and added that those who sided with the US in the battle against terror groups in the country have been left in the lurch by the Trump administration’s decision. Terrorists attacked a joint party of Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on December 06. The incident took place at Sazgaripora, Hawal in Srinagar. One Police personnel and a civilian got injured in the attack. The area has been cordoned off.
'Sakhi', a One-Stop Center to help women in distress, has been set up in Bemina area of Srinagar. An initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development in association with district administration, the centre opened on January 18. One-Stop Center has integrated many helpline numbers including 181. The main motive of the OSC is to provide integrated assistance to women affected by violence. The One-Stop Center is completely union government sponsored scheme under Nirbhaya fund.
General Officer Commanding of Army's Chinar Corps commented on the terror situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Lt Gen BS Raju said that Pakistan attracts Kashmiri youth for education and then diverts some of them into terrorism. He added that as security forces were plugging gaps in border infrastructure, Pakistan was sending drugs and weapons via drones and tunnels. He said that the forces are countering this using advanced technology. He also said that at 217, strength of terrorists in the Valley was at a decadal low. Watch the full video for more.
