Security cover of Devendra Fadnavis, Leader of Opposition in state Assembly, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray and others have been reduced by Maharashtra Government. Reacting to the step of the Maharashtra govt, former state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "I never asked for security even when I was state president. I got it for the first time when I became CM and when I got threats after Yakub Memon's death sentence and other instances. I feel it should be given based on threat perception." Security cover of some BJP leaders including state chief Chandrakant Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar have been removed.
Former chief minister of Maharashtra and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis on January 09 demanded an immediate probe in the fire incident at Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Bhandara District General Hospital and Rs 10 lakhs compensation for the kin of the children who died in the incident. In the wee hours of January 09 (Saturday), a massive fire broke out at Bhandara District General Hospital that took the life of 10 infants.
NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who is part of the Maharashtra government led by Shiv Sena, and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Devendra Fadnavis shared the stage for the inauguration of a water supply project in Pune on January 01. Their appearance together raised eyebrows in the political corridor of Maharashtra, and also drew sharp reaction from the workers of NCP and BJP. Workers from both the parties created ruckus after Pawar and Fadnavis attended the event. Both the leaders politically shook the state after suddenly taking oath as Chief Minister and Deputy in Maharashtra in late 2019. Their stint ended after NCP chief Sharad Pawar made Ajit back out from the brief partnership.
BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya reacted on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement calling the party "more dangerous than Naxals". He said that BJP doesn't need CM Banerjee's certificate that it is dangerous or not. "People of the country have made Narendra Modi Prime Minister second time so we don't need Mamata Banerjee's certificate,' he said. He added that BJP will only choose those TMC leaders who are not indulged in anti-national activities.
Ranjan Banerjee, senior vice-president of Aditya Birla Group, joined the BJP in Kolkata on January 20. He joined the party in the presence of BJP's national vice president Mukul Roy. Meanwhile, Arindam Bhattacharya, a former Congress MLA who later switched to TMC joined BJP. He joined BJP in the presence of party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya in New Delhi. Speaking to ANI, Ranjan Banerjee said, "I thank BJP for giving me this opportunity to serve the people of the state. We need to bring industries here so that people can get employment." Bengal is going for polls in the mid of 2021.
Days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she would contest the upcoming state assembly election from Nandigram, now her former aide turned BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has hit back. While Adhikari refused to confirm his candidature from Nandigram, he said that he would guarantee the victory of the candidate the BJP fields in Nandigram. ‘Mamata Banerjee has announced to contest from there, relying on 62,000 votes but I have 2.13 lakh people who chant 'Jai Shri Ram,’ Adhikari said. Meanwhile, in a fresh setback to the Trinamool Congress, Arindam Bhattacharya joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and said that he wants to join PM Modi’s mission of making an Atmanirbhar Bengal. GHMC poll result threw up a hung house after counting of votes on Friday. No political party reached absolute majority mark of 76 in 150-seat corporation. Telangana’s ruling party TRS emerged as single largest party winning 55 seats. TRS had previously won 99 seats in 2016 GHMC elections. BJP put up a tremendous show, emerged single largest party in GHMC. BJP won 48 seats this year as compared to 4 seats in 2016 GHMC. MoS Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy expressed firm belief that the BJP will form government in Telangana in 2023. On results of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls, BJP leader said, "Hyderabad is mini Telangana. People showed support and gave blessings to BJP with 48 seats. People are against Asaduddin Owaisi. Neither Owaisi nor KCR nor anyone else can stop BJP from forming govt in 2023." On being asked about the possibility of AIMIM-TRS coalition for running Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Reddy said, "Owaisi and KCR fought the elections together. They both eat 'biryani' together. KCR has planned this sitting at home."
After Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) emerged as the largest party with 55 seats in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on December 04 said that TRS represents the regional sentiment of Telangana.
13 people were injured in a cylinder blast in Hyderabad on January 21. The incident took place at Mir Chowk police station. Cylinder blast led to fire in the area. All injured were admitted to nearest hospital.
Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors (KARD) has demanded the government to let people choose which COVID-19 vaccine, between Pune-based Serum Institute of India's Covishield and Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, they want to take. "Government of India has approved Covishield and Covaxin vaccines. We have all the reports for Covishield. But, Covaxin is still in phase-III trials, where the trial is being done on healthcare workers. We condemn this...Healthcare workers should be given a choice of vaccine," said Dr Dayanand Sagar. GoI rolled out COVID-19 vaccine jab from January 16.
Once a child labour, Santosh, who is currently running his own NGO in Hyderabad, provides free primary education to the tribal children. People Helping Children was set up in 2019 and aims towards providing solution to the problems faced by the underprivileged children. Education and nutritious food are the two top priorities of the NGO. With branches in 6 states, NGO runs with the support of around 50 members and over 1000 volunteers. Founder of People Helping Children, Santosh said, "I lost my childhood, I worked as a child labourer, so I don't want anyone to lose their childhood, this is the main reason, why I started this NGO." The goal of this NGO is that every child gets primary education in the country.
Union Health Ministry commented on the deaths post the covid-19 vaccination. Additional secretary said that 3 out of 4 deaths were unrelated to vaccination. In total 7.86 lakh healthcare workers have received Covid-19 vaccine jabs till the evening of the fifth day of the nationwide immunisation drive, as per provisional report of the Union Health Ministry on Jan 20. "The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against Covid-19 has touched 7,868,42 (till 6 pm Wednesday) through 14,119 sessions, as per the provisional report," the ministry said. On the four deaths reported, one each from Uttar Pradesh and Telangana and two from Karnataka, the official said in case of the death from Moradabad in UP, post mortem confirmed cardio-pulmonary disease and is not related to vaccination. “About the death reported from Bellary in Karnataka, post mortem suggested myocardial infarction and it is not related to vaccination. The other death reported in Shivamoga is also a suspected case of myocardial infarction not related to immunization,” Union Health Ministry Manohar Agnani said. Watch the full video for more.

Serum Institute of India's vaccine consignment arrived at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on January 21. The consignment is containing 10 lakh dosages which will be dispatched to Kathmandu and 20 lakh dosages to Dhaka.

"Central government should bring legislation in regard to OTT (over-the-top) platforms," he said.
