Indian National Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi conducted a roadshow in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, months ahead of Assembly elections in the state. He was greeted by crowds lined along the streets, waving party flags. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of wanting to suppress Tamil culture and language and make it 'subservient' to his views. I respect Tamil language, might learn it also: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 23rd said that he respects the Tamil Language and may try to learn it as well. Congress believes that if Tamil Nadu is India then India is Tamil Nadu too, he said. "Ruling party believes that for sake of efficiency of growth, diverse factors need to be homogenised. We don't believe in that. We believe that if Tamil Nadu is India then India is Tamil Nadu too. I respect Tamil language and maybe will learn it," he said. Gandhi was addressing the representatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Coimbatore. Gandhi is on a three-day visit to Tamil Nadu.

GST will be restructured if UPA comes to power: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 23 addressed the representatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Coimbatore. He said that when United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will come to power, it will restructure the GST, the indirect tax regime. "It is the commitment of the UPA government that when we come to power, we will restructure the Goods and Services Tax (GST)," Gandhi told the MSME people. Gandhi is on a three-day visit to Tamil Nadu ahead of the Assembly elections.

Veteran Congress leader Motilal Vora passes away at 93

Congress leader Motilal Vora passed away in Delhi. He passed away at Fortis Escort Hospital at the age of 93. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of senior Congress leader Motilal Vora. He tweeted and paid his sincere condolences to Vora. "Motilal Vora Ji was among the senior-most Congress leaders, who had vast administrative and organisational experience in a political career that spanned decades", tweets PMO quoting PM Modi. On the other side, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also condoled the passing away of party leader Motilal Vora. "Vora ji was a true congressman and a wonderful human being," tweets Rahul Gandhi.
