Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused BJP of maligning any sort of protests. Baghel said that BJP called them Pakistani, Khalistani and even alleged them of being middleman's broker, but they won't be successful in their attempts in suppressing farmers. CM Bhupesh Baghel said, "Whenever there's a protest, BJP tries to malign it. As for protesting farmers, sometimes they (BJP) called them Pakistani or Khalistani. They even alleged that farmers are middleman's broker. NIA's notice has also been sent to the houses of the protesting farmers. Regardless of their attempts to suppress, farmers won't be scared."
Delhi police put up 'wanted terrorist' posters ahead of Republic Day in Connaught Place. Alleged operatives of Khalistani groups and Al Qaeda were named in posters. Just days earlier, the government had raised Khalistani threat in the Supreme Court. “We have inputs that some terrorist organisations including Khalistani outfits and Al-Qaeda may carry out unwanted activities on January 26. Keeping this in mind, we have taken a few steps including putting up posters of wanted terrorists,” said Siddharth Jain, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Connaught Place. The government told the Supreme Court that a banned Khalistani group was backing the protesting farmers. Attorney General Kk Venugopal said that Khalistanis had infiltrated the protest. Ahead of West Bengal elections, Uttar Pradesh minister, Anand Swaroop Shukla, targeted Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. Shukla called Mamata the biggest threat to India. Placards of PM Modi and several other world leaders were seen at a pro-freedom rally organised in Sann area of Pakistan’s Sindh. The rally had been organised on the birth anniversary of GM Syed, one of the founding fathers of modern Sindh nationalism. Protesters said that Sindh had been illegally handed over to Pakistan in 1947 and raised slogans for Sindhudesh. There are several nationalist parties in Sindh, who are advocating for a free Sindh nation at various international platforms. A skill development centre in Aligarh is not just making women self reliant but is also imparting in them a lesson of communal harmony. Being run by an NGO named Manav Samman Seva Samiti under Ministry of Minority Affairs 'Seekho Aur Kamao' Scheme, a number of women belonging to minority communities including Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Jains have been learning here together for years. They get trained in the art of stitching and embroidery, further helping them to lead an independent life.
In freezing temperature films on Sikh bravery were shown on LED screens at the Ghaziabad border on December 30 to inspire the protesting farmers. Screening of a two-part 3D animated movie called Chaar Sahibzaade directed by Harry Baweja was done at the border. The LED screen has been set outside stall of Khalsa International. One of the volunteer said, "We have conquered Delhi 17 times, and we will again win for the 18th time, the government has to roll back the farm laws."
Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Arunachal Pradesh Tapir Gao on Tuesday claimed that it was during Congress' regime China occupied Sumdorong Chu Valley in Tawang and added that the then Army Chief planned an operation but former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi denied him permission to push back People's Liberation Army troops. "Since the 80s till today, they (China) are occupying this area, and construction of villages is not a new thing. They have already constructed military base between Bisa and Maza which is inside McMahon Line, under Indian territory," Gao added. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of national security after reports that China has built a village in Arunachal Pradesh, and said China needs to be given a clear message. He termed the situation with China as "very dangerous" and said India under Modi does not have any clear cut strategy on China, which is testing the country and will not sit silent. A Punjab artist painted portraits of US President-elect Joe Biden and VP-elect Kamala Harris on the eve of their inauguration. Jagjot Singh Rubal painted the portraits as a gift to the leaders on their swearing-in. The artist also expressed his wish to display his work in the White House. Rubal took 20 days to complete the portraits painted on joint canvas using acrylic colours. He had earlier received a letter of appreciation from PM Modi for his portrait. The artist from Amritsar currently holds as many as 10 world records. Biden-Harris' inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 20 at the US Capitol. The event is set to be a star-studded one with celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, others.
