India expresses 'regret' over OIC being used by Pakistan for anti-India propaganda

Ceasefire violation was initiated by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on January 16. Regular shelling has been a major problem for the locals. People living in the Balakot sector urged government to not concentrate on elections instead on the people living here. One of the locals said, "The Central government has given the full emphasis on elections, but elections will not resolve people's problems. People want roads, bunkers, they are disturbed due to the regular shelling activities. The emphasis should not be on elections instead authorities should think about the people living here."
Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane lashed out at Pakistan over its continued support to terrorists. Speaking at the Army Day celebration, the Army Chief said that Indian forces have been giving a stern response to provocations at the border and added that around 300 to 400 terrorists are waiting across the border to infiltrate into India. He also added that forces have thwarted numerous infiltration attempts by terrorists into Kashmir. The Army Chief also added that there has been a 44% rise in ceasefire violations by Pakistan. During the Army Day celebrations on January 15, Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane told that over 200 terrorists near LoC and in counter-terrorism operations in last year. "Around 300-400 terrorists are sitting in training camps near the border to infiltrate into the Indian territory. Number of ceasefire violations went up by 44 per cent last year, which shows the nefarious intentions of Pakistan. Last year, the Army eliminated over 200 terrorists near LoC and in counter-terrorism operations," said General MM Naravane.
IPS Ranvir Singh Krishnia took charge as the Director-General of Police (DGP) of Puducherry. He succeeded Balaji Srivastava, who has been transferred to New Delhi after 1.5 years' long stint in the Union Territory. Krishnia called on Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi at her respective office. Krishnia belongs to 1989 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) in the AGMUT cadre. He had served in various capacities in different states. With a heavy heart, Lieutenant Governor Bedi bid adieu to Balaji Srivastava. During Srivastava's period Rowdyism and Land grabbing came under strict control in the Union Territory.
Malappuram District received COVID-19 vaccines, ahead of pan-India vaccination drive. The first consignment of Covishield also arrived at Leh. A consignment of COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield arrived at Jammu airport from Serum Institute of India, Pune on January 13. Covishield vaccines were shifted to the storage rooms. Kanpur also received its Covisheild consignment today. Soon after arriving at the Kanpur airport, vaccines were shifted to city's storage centres. SII had dispatched vaccines across India on January 12. So far several states including Karnataka, New Delhi, Telangana, Bihar and Tamil Nadu have received the Covisheild vaccine.
