Farmer protest: Congress MP heckled, says targeted with sticks at Singhu border

Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu claims he was attacked when he visited the farmers' protest at Delhi's Singhu border. Bittu reportedly said that people ambushed him like 'guerrilla warriors' and that they were armed with 'sticks and other weapons'. He claimed that some elements who are being paid Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1 crore are waving Khalistani flags at the protest sites and indulging in such activities. He said that it was impossible for farmer leaders to verify the identities of so many people. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that while many people see farmers as India's weakness, he sees them as the nation's strength.

Crores being given for waving Khalistani flags at farmers' protest, claims Congress MP

Congress MP from Ludhiana, Ravneet Singh Bittu, who was allegedly heckled by protesting farmers at Singhu border in Delhi, said that there were miscreant elements, and people carrying Khalistani flags. He said, "We have been saying for a while. There are miscreant elements, people carrying Khalistani flags. But what can farmer leaders do to verify identities in such numbers of people. Rs 1cr-80 lakhs is given to such elements for waving flags and I am a target anyway" he said.

'BJP maligns protest': CM Bhupesh Baghel on farmers' protest

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused BJP of maligning any sort of protests. Baghel said that BJP called them Pakistani, Khalistani and even alleged them of being middleman's broker, but they won't be successful in their attempts in suppressing farmers. CM Bhupesh Baghel said, "Whenever there's a protest, BJP tries to malign it. As for protesting farmers, sometimes they (BJP) called them Pakistani or Khalistani. They even alleged that farmers are middleman's broker. NIA's notice has also been sent to the houses of the protesting farmers. Regardless of their attempts to suppress, farmers won't be scared."
