Begumpur Police Station being selected as the best police station of Delhi among top 10 police stations of India in 2020. On this occasion, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava felicitated police officials of the Begumpur Police Station. He presented Certificate of Excellence to SHO Inspector Jai Bhagwan. The ranking was done on the basis of prefixed parameters by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Such an exercise is conducted to incentivise effective functioning of police stations and bring healthy competition among them. Surveys were conducted across the country and the police stations were selected based on data analysis, direct observation and public feedback.

'Myanmar refugees are brothers, can't send them back,' says Mizoram MP

Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) K Vanlalvena said on March 24 that the people of Mizoram will not send the Myanmarese refugees back to their native land. "Not only have the government of Mizoram but also all the people of Mizoram do not want to send them back because they are our brothers. Sending them back means killing them. From the point of humanity, we just can't send them. " said K Vanlalvena. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in a letter to the four States of the northeast stated that the state governments and UT administrations have no powers to grant "refugee" status to any foreigner and India is not a signatory to the United Nations Refugee Convention of 1951 and its 1967 Protocol.

‘BJP winning over 50 seats in 2 phases; Mamata losing in Nandigram’: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a big claim in a public meeting in West Bengal’s Sitalkuchi. Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is winning over 50 of 60 seats in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election. Amit Shah also claimed that Mamata Banerjee is losing from the Nandigram constituency. The second phase of voting for the Assembly election in West Bengal took place on Thursday. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting from Nandigram seat. BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari is contesting from the same seat against Mamata. Watch the full video for more details.

'Mamata Banerjee will win in Nandigram, oppn nowhere near her': Yashwant Sinha

TMC leader Yashwant Sinha expressed confidence in West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's win in Nandigram. Hitting out at BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, Sinha said the opposition candidate is nowhere near her. Adhikari locked horns with Mamata from Nandigram seat in the second phase of assembly polls. “Mamata Banerjee is winning with a huge margin and the opposition candidate is nowhere near her,” Sinha said. He added,”As per Election Commission, campaigning for a phase should stop 36 hours before polling starts. However, this doesn't happen in today's time with the advancement of technology.” Sinha’s statement comes after PM Modi pointed out that Mamata may be filing nomination from another seat. Earlier, Mamata alleged that voters were not being allowed to exercise their franchise in Nandigram. The TMC supremo had said 63 complaints regarding booth capturing were sent to EC. Mamata also held a discussion with Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar over call regarding the issue.

'Happy to meet my family': CRPF jawan released by Naxals reaches home in Jammu

CRPF jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas reached his hometown, Jammu on Friday. Rakeshwar was released last week after being abducted by Naxals in Chhattisgarh. The jawan was warmly welcomed by family, friends who put garlands around his neck. “I am very happy that I am meeting my family today. Our soldiers were brave enough to fight back the Naxals,” Rakeshwar said. Rakeshwar was abducted by Naxals during the Sukma-Bijapur encounter on April 3. Rakeshwar, who was part of security force's elite CoBRA unit, was released on April 8. 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured in the fierce gunbattle.

A purported video from Sitalkuchi in Bengal's Cooch Behar is doing rounds on social media. Four villagers had died in the area in an altercation with CRPF jawans during the fourth phase of polling. Ruling TMC said video vindicates its position that there was no provocation for CRPF to fire. TMC MP and spokesperson Derek O'Brien went on to dub it as cold-blooded genocide. The video shows many locals gathered in a field, while some are seen wielding sticks. In the viral video, some central force jawans can also be seen. Soon firing can be heard, though it is not clear who fired the shot. Video shows a ruckus erupt in the area after the shots are fired. Earlier, Cooch Behar SP had said there was rumour that police opened fire. Debasish Dhar had added that the rumour led locals to come out in large numbers. The SP had said that this led the Central forces to open fire in self defence.

During a search operation, CRPF found pressure cooker bomb in Chhattisgarh's Sukma on April 12. Later, a bomb squad destroyed the bomb in controlled explosion.

CRPF takes disabled youth on a 'day out' picnic to Srinagar's Tulip garden

Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) under its Madadgaar project on Aprik 12 organised a 'Day out' picnic for the disabled youths at the famous Tulip garden in Srinagar. About 25 people were taken out for a day of fun, out of which 18 were disabled and 7 were helpers of them. CRPF also provided transport and refreshment to these disabled youths keeping in mind COVID norms. Such initiative was taken for disabled ones to give a change to the disabled usually living inside their homes and it was also an opportunity for them to interact with the normal people.

While the BJP leader held a rally in Habra, the Trinamool Congress chief led a roadshow in Kolkata. Many participants at the rallies didn't follow Covid protocol, failing to maintain social distance.
