There was a time when Assam was known for agitation and violence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did everything to bring prestige to Assam. Bhupen Hazarika was conferred Bharat Ratna. Congress leader Tarun Gogoi had also made great contributions. He was given Padma Bhushan in the regime of PM Narendra Modi."

BJP president JP Nadda visited Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's Residence and Museum in Kolkata on February 25. West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh and party's general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya were also present. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay had composed the national song 'Vande Mataram'. JP Nadda had arrived in poll-bound West Bengal on Feb 24.

Bengali actor Payel Sarkar joined BJP in presence of party president JP Nadda in Kolkata. Both BJP and ruling TMC have been roping in celebrities ahead of Assembly polls in Bengal. On Wednesday, former India cricketer Ashok Dinda joined BJP in presence of Union Minister Babul Supriyo. On the same day, cricketer Manoj Tiwary and several Bengali actors joined TMC in CM Mamata Banerjee’s presence. Elections to 294 Assembly seats in Bengal are scheduled to take place in May 2021.

BJP's Shibaji Singha Roy injured in attack in Kolkata

BJP District President North Kolkata Shibaji Singha Roy sustained injuries after he along with party leaders including Suvendu Adhikari and Shankudeb Panda was attacked allegedly by some persons here at Phoolbagan. He has been admitted to a hospital. Earlier on Wednesday, West Bengal Minister of State for Labour Jakir Hossain suffered injuries after unidentified persons hurled crude bombs at him while he was walking towards Nimtita Railway station to board the train for Kolkata.

During the launch of 'Lokkho Sonar Bangla (manifesto) crowdsourcing campaign' in Kolkata, BJP chief JP Nadda said over 2 crore suggestions will be taken. He said, "We'll accept over 2 crore suggestions from people. We'll make available approx 30,000 suggestion boxes across WB. Around 100 boxes will be kept in 294 assembly constituencies. Our workers will go from door to door with 50 boxes and 50 will be placed at strategic locations."
