Ahead of Republic Day parade, Central Reserve Police Force and ITBP jawans carried out rehearsals in parts of country. ITBP jawans carried out their daily rehearsals at the Rajpath on January 16. Similarly, CRPF and ITBP jawans did a joint band rehearsal in Gurugram for 26th January celebrations. The numbers of jawans in the parade have been reduced this year in wake of COVID-19. India will celebrate 72nd Republic Day on January 26. On this day, Indian Constitution came into effect in 1950.
Parts of national capital and Haryana's Gurugram received hailstorm and rain on January 06. However, the continuous rainfall in Delhi kept the minimum temperature at tolerable level of around 12 Degree Celsius. Water logging was also reported in some places due to the continuous downpour. According to IMD, thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of many places in Delhi and surrounding region. IMD predicted maximum temperature for the day at around 22 Degree Celsius.
After heavy rainfall in Haryana's Gurugram on January 03, water-logging was observed in some parts of the city. Pataudi road and some areas of Sector 10 received heavy rainfall on Sunday. IMD had also predicted wet spell over Northwest and adjoining Central India during Jan 03 to Jan 06, 2021 and abatement of cold wave and cold day conditions in Northwest India from January 03.
Once a child labour, Santosh, who is currently running his own NGO in Hyderabad, provides free primary education to the tribal children. People Helping Children was set up in 2019 and aims towards providing solution to the problems faced by the underprivileged children. Education and nutritious food are the two top priorities of the NGO. With branches in 6 states, NGO runs with the support of around 50 members and over 1000 volunteers. Founder of People Helping Children, Santosh said, "I lost my childhood, I worked as a child labourer, so I don't want anyone to lose their childhood, this is the main reason, why I started this NGO." The goal of this NGO is that every child gets primary education in the country.
Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy inaugurated vaccination drive at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad on January 16. On the rumours around the efficacy of the vaccine, G Kishan Reddy said that medicines tested in other countries are considered good but when our scientists toil and develop made in India medicines, people view it like that. He further assured that vaccines have been approved only after testing."I request people to not say such things. The mega COVID-19 vaccination drive began in India on January 16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the drive and around 100 healthcare workers will get vaccinated at each session site on the inaugural day. Manish Kumar, a sanitation worker, became the first person to receive COVID-19 vaccine jab at AIIMS. In the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive, healthcare workers will receive the vaccine. The beneficiaries reached to their respective health centres. Two COVID vaccines have been approved in India- Pune-based SII's 'Covishield' and Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech's 'Covaxin'.
Indonesian navy divers scouring the sea bed on Monday were closing in on data recorders from a Sriwijaya Air jet that plunged into the sea two days ago with 62 people on board minutes after take off from Jakarta's main airport.
A Sriwijaya Air jetliner carrying 62 people on board crashed shortly after taking off from Jakarta, according to the head of Indonesia’s National Transportation Safety Committee, Suryanto Cahyono. CNN’s Kristie Lu Stout reports.
