He said, "My heart pains that ignoring constitutional provisions, a child of 'Maa Bharti' is called an outsider in West Bengal because he does not belong to the state. We all are the children of 'Maa Bharti' and we believe in our unity. No person living in this land can be an outsider. And that being so, I appeal to everyone please let us not engage into such kind of divisive activity. I ensure no one in the country will go contrary to this because this is theme and soul of Indian constitution."

Great opportunity for West Bengal to engage in image makeover: Governor Dhankhar

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar held a press conference after meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 09. He said, "2021 is a challenging year for West Bengal as it goes for Assembly polls. It is a great opportunity for state of West Bengal to engage in makeover of image as unfortunately, so far elections in WB have been plagued with rampant violence, compromising basic rights of voters and role of bureaucracy and police. Man dies after hospital in WB refuses treatment despite holding 'Swasthya Sathi' insurance scheme

A 65-year old man, Md Gaffar died after he suffered a brain stroke on January 12 in West Bengal's Matigara. Family of the deceased alleged that nursing homes in Siliguri refused to treat him. However, Gaffar has 'Swasthya Sathi' card, a state government health insurance scheme. "It's an unfortunate incident. We will look into the matter," Gautam Deb, Tourism Minister of WB.
