Will do everything needed to facilitate free, fair polls: Bengal governor
Sunday, 27 December 2020 () West Bengalgovernor Jagdeep Dhankhar said on Sunday that he would do everything possible to ensure state elections are held peacefully. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "Prayed for peace, harmony and love for people of the State at Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Joka at 11.30 am." State minister Partha Chatterjee, in response to Dhankhar's assertions, said polls had largely been peaceful in Bengal.

He said, "My heart pains that ignoring constitutional provisions, a child of 'Maa Bharti' is called an outsider in West Bengal because he does not belong to the state. We all are the children of 'Maa Bharti' and we believe in our unity. No person living in this land can be an outsider. And that being so, I appeal to everyone please let us not engage into such kind of divisive activity. I ensure no one in the country will go contrary to this because this is theme and soul of Indian constitution."
