Protests continue against Amazon Prime’s web series ‘Tandav’ for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Even after the makers issued an apology & agreed to make the changes sought, protests continue unabated. Activists from Dogra front protested against the web series and said that it attempts to divide the Hindus & Muslims. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh called on the Centre to make laws to regulate content on OTT platforms. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on January 20 said that a complaint has been received regarding web series 'Tandav'. Action will be taken as per the law, he said. "Central government should bring legislation in regard to OTT (over-the-top) platforms," he said. BJP leader Ram Kadam and other leaders alleged that the web series 'Tandav' has some inappropriate scenes of Hindu gods which are hurting religious sentiments. Recently, the creators of 'Tandav' apologized for unintentionally hurting people's sentiments.
BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya reacted on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement calling the party "more dangerous than Naxals". He said that BJP doesn't need CM Banerjee's certificate that it is dangerous or not. Soon after its release, Saif Ali Khan starrer political drama 'Tandav' landed in major controversial trouble. Several FIRs have been filed against the cast and crew of the web-series across the country for allegedly hurting and mocking Hindu religious sentiments. On Jan 18, a lawyer filed a criminal complaint in a court against the web-series in Muzaffarpur against 96 people including Saif Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia. He said, "Tandav has been made with an intention to hurt religious sentiments and spread caste-based discrimination." Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, 'Tandav' stars Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and Sunil Grover among others in prominent roles. The web-series focused on political drama and was released on OTT platform Amazon Prime on January 14.
Dense fog enveloped Aligarh city of Uttar Pradesh on January 18. It led to low visibility at various locations. Similar situation of fog was observed in Bihar's Muzaffarpur today. A thick blanket of dense fog also engulfed Punjab's Ludhiana. Locals were seen keeping themselves warm near the bonfire amid chilly winter season.
