He said, "My heart pains that ignoring constitutional provisions, a child of 'Maa Bharti' is called an outsider in West Bengal because he does not belong to the state. We all are the children of 'Maa Bharti' and we believe in our unity. No person living in this land can be an outsider. And that being so, I appeal to everyone please let us not engage into such kind of divisive activity. I ensure no one in the country will go contrary to this because this is theme and soul of Indian constitution."

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar held a press conference after meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 09. He said, "2021 is a challenging year for West Bengal as it goes for Assembly polls. It is a great opportunity for state of West Bengal to engage in makeover of image as unfortunately, so far elections in WB have been plagued with rampant violence, compromising basic rights of voters and role of bureaucracy and police. BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya reacted on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement calling the party "more dangerous than Naxals". He said that BJP doesn't need CM Banerjee's certificate that it is dangerous or not. Aditya Birla Group's Vice President joins BJP ahead of Bengal polls

Ranjan Banerjee, senior vice-president of Aditya Birla Group, joined the BJP in Kolkata on January 20. He joined the party in the presence of BJP's national vice president Mukul Roy. Meanwhile, Arindam Bhattacharya, a former Congress MLA who later switched to TMC joined BJP. He joined BJP in the presence of party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya in New Delhi. Speaking to ANI, Ranjan Banerjee said, "I thank BJP for giving me this opportunity to serve the people of the state. We need to bring industries here so that people can get employment." Bengal is going for polls in the mid of 2021.
