Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal visited Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on February 28. The Aam Aadmi Party chief addressed a 'Kisan Mahapanchayat'. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on February 28 offered prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It enshrines one of the twelve Jyotirlingams of Shiva. Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal informed about the current status of the state in regards to COVID-19 fresh infections. He said that state has recorded 100 new active cases of COVID-19 in past 24 hours and 143 people have been recovered on the same duration. 5,92,699 people have been recovered and discharged till date. The positivity rate of the state is 0.01 per cent.
AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has lashed out at the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal for allegedly refusing his party permission for a public meeting. Owaisi said that while Trinamool MPs give speeches about freedom of speech and expression in Delhi, they don’t follow those ideals in West Bengal. ‘Amit Shah to hold a public rally. You allow BJP to hold public rallies. Congress and Left hold rallies. But not AIMIM. Why?’ Owaisi questioned. He also urged the election commission to transfer all officials in the area once the code of conduct comes into place as free and fair elections cannot be held till those officers are still in power in those regions. "If I want to conduct a public meeting there, then why am I not being permitted?" asked AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi during a press conference on February 25. Owaisi said that Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda can hold a rally, Congress, CPM, TMC can hold a rally then why can't AIMIM. "TMC MPs speak about freedom of expression, constitution, dissent in Parliament. But they have two faces, they say one thing in Delhi and do just the opposite in Bengal," he said. The AIMIM chief further said that Model Code of Conduct has not come into effect now. "If they're refusing to give us permission even before that, how will election be free and fair?" he asked.
"Opposition has no valid points and they are upset. Therefore they are speaking false statements," replied Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma to Samajwadi chief Akhilesh Yadav's remark on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government. "Work done by CM Yogi Adityanath in last 4 yrs is more than work done b/w 2003-2017 by BSP or SP. This is a government which supports 'anndata'," he added. Further comparing Uttar Pardesh with America, Dinesh Sharma said that the state tackled the pandemic far better than the world leader America.
Targeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over his language, Samajwadi party Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the kind of language Yogi Adityanath uses on stages or in the House is used by no other Chief Minister. He further asked the Chief Minister to tell full form of DNA on his remark where he said that these people have 'division' in their DNA.
Commenting on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'andolanjivi' remark in Rajya Sabha, while replying to the motion of thanks on the President's address, Samajwadi Party chief and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav in Lok Sabha said that the nation attained independence through agitation. "The nation attained independence through agitation. Innumerable rights were received through agitation. Women received the right to vote through agitation. Mahatama Gandhi became the father of the nation because he agitated for Africa, the world and the nation," said Yadav.
Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan faced wrath in Bhainswal village of Uttar Pradesh during his visit on February 23. He said, "10-12 family members of a Samajwadi Party candidate misbehaved with me in Bhainswal. 5-6 Lok Dal workers did same when I was in Soram to attend a function. After I left, a clash erupted. The announcements were made from mosque to unite against me."
The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly started off on a stormy note with Samajwadi Party MLAs creating ruckus and shouting slogans against the government. The SP legislators, who were holding posters against inflation, rising fuel prices, plight of farmers, walked out from the house during Governor Anandiben Patel’s address. JDU workers are celebrating Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's 70th birthday as 'Vikas Diwas' across state. Workers first made offerings at the Mahavir temple, and later distributed the prasad among the needy. Along with the prasad, JDU workers also distributed copy, pencil, milk and biscuits.
