Assam polls: Congress asks EC to probe sudden disappearance of Tamulpur constituency candidate

Congress national spokesperson Manish Tiwari while addressing the media in Guwahati asked Election Commission to probe the sudden disappearance of Congress-led Mahajot candidate from Tamulpur constituency and Bodoland People's Front (BPF) leader Rangja Basumatary. He also alleged that BJP is responsible for Basumatary's disappearance. He said, "Congress-led Mahajot candidate from Tamulpur constituency, Rangja Basumatary was made to disappear. It is Assam govt's and BJP's responsibility to answer where he is now".

Thiruvananthapuram hospital runs out of Covishield vaccine

A hospital in Thiruvananthapuram ran out of Covishield vaccine on April 20. A notice has been put up on the hospital stating that 'Covishield has run out of stock, Covaxin available'. District secretary of Kerala Nurses Union, Karthik Kumar said, "We only have Covaxin doses. Those who took Covisheild first have to take the same vaccine. If it's not available, the whole purpose is lost". Kerala reported 19,577 new COVID-19, 28 deaths and 3,880 recoveries today.

COVID: Vaccine shortage at Mumbai's BKC Jumbo Centre

The COVID-19 vaccine went out of stock at BKC Jumbo vaccination centre in Mumbai on April 20. The boards reading 'vaccine out of stock' were put up outside the vaccination centre. Dean of BKC Jumbo Vaccination Centre, Rajesh Dere said, "We had 350-400 Covishield doses, we've administered it. We're awaiting more doses. Around 2000 Covaxin doses are available for second dose that is being administered. We have received information that we will get the Covishield doses by this evening. If that happens, we will begin vaccination tomorrow. We realised last night about the shortage of Covishield doses." Mumbai Police made announcement for the general public, outside BKC jumbo vaccination centre to not gather at the gates of the centre.

Centre paving way to unhealthy price bidding by not fixing vaccine price for states: Chidambaram

Former union home minister and veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram on April 20 lashed out at the Centre for not fixing the price of vaccine. He also said that by not fixing price, the government is paving the way to unhealthy price bidding and profiteer. "States with limited resources will be at a considerable disadvantage," he added.

Rahul Gandhi tests positive for COVID-19

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms on April 20. He shared the information on his Twitter handle. He also asked people in his close contact to get tested. Today, India reported over 2.59 lakh new COVID cases.

Rahul asked those who came in his contact recently to follow safety protocols. The Congress leader had earlier cancelled his poll rallies in West Bengal due to rising Covid-19 cases.
