Lalu Yadav slams Bihar govt over increasing crime rate
Monday, 18 January 2021 Slamming the National Democratic Alliance government in Bihar, former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday said crime has doubled in the state under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's rule. Citing a media report, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo tweeted that in 2019, under Nitish Kumar's rule Bihar reported more than double the number of crimes to what was reported in the last year of his government in the state in 2004.

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav said that people like Bihar RJD president Jagada Nand Singh are the reason behind Lalu Prasad Yadav's ill health. Yadav asserted that Singh has not written 'Azadi Patra' for release of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav from jail. He said, "I've come here but Jagada Nand Singh (Bihar RJD president) is sitting in his chamber. He has not written 'Azadi Patra' (for release of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav from jail). People like him are the reason behind my father's ill health."
On Dumka treasury case, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's lawyer, Prabhat Kumar said, "The final hearing will be heard on next Friday. CBI has been directed to file reply by that time. The case has come to half of the sentence. We are hoping that he (Lalu Prasad Yadav) will get bail on Friday (February 05)."

Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that his Cabinet colleagues had decided to pay for Covid-19 vaccine. The announcement came on the day that India expanded the inoculation drive to include those aged above 60 years, and those aged 45+ with comorbidities. As the second phase of vaccination drive began across the nation on March 01, Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar took his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Patna today. CM Nitish took the vaccination on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on February 20 announced an increase in wages of tea labours by Rs. 80. The total wage of each tea garden workers in Assam will now be Rs 318. CM Sarbananda Sonowal said, "It is significant and historic initiative taken by BJP-led NDA government in Assam. This is happening for the first time because during our brief period of 4.5 years, we were able to increase the wages up to Rs. 80. Congress was unable to do it because of lack of their commitment to tea labours."
