The telecom spectrum auctioning began on March 01 after four years and Union Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed that only three bidders, i.e, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea Limited and Reliance Jio Infocomm have participated this year. He said, "The winning bid till 6 pm today was Rs 77,146 crores. The auction will resume tomorrow. There were three participants i.e, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea Limited and Reliance Jio Infocomm this year while in 2016, there were 7 bidders. The bidding took place for spectrum in 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2300 MHz. The participants (just three this year) didn't bid for 700 and 2500 MHz."
Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that his Cabinet colleagues had decided to pay for Covid-19 vaccine. The announcement came on the day that India expanded the inoculation drive to include those aged above 60 years, and those aged 45+ with comorbidities. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the residence of her nephew Abhishek Banerjee ahead of the CBI questioning his wife in the coal pilferage case. Meanwhile, the BJP mocked the Trinamool Congress and said that they are scared worried about the CBI notice. BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said that the CBI acts on the basis of evidence it finds and if they have done nothing wrong, there is no reason for them to worry. He further claimed that the CBI notices are not linked to the upcoming polls in the state. ‘I agree that elections are around the corner, but because of the elections, the investigation should not be stopped.
