Centre acting 'unilaterally' on key issues, must uphold spirit of cooperative federalism: Hemant Soren
Friday, 22 January 2021 The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) executive president asserted that opposition parties, including the Congress, Left and strong regional forces, need to take a concerted approach to fight the BJP both at the Centre and in states where they are in power.
BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri stopped on the way while he was heading to Telangana's Bhainsa where communal clash was reported on March 07. A heated debate took place between Hyderabad Police and BJP MP. BJP leader has been placed under house arrest. Several people were injured and many vehicles were burnt in the violent clash.
Senior Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged that Congress communally polarised the assembly election environment in the northeastern state by joining hands with Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF. Himanta said opposition party has made this poll into a ‘conflict of civilisation’ by aligning with the AIUDF. “Yes, it will positively impact us. It will lead to complete polarisation because people of Assam will not vote for the AIUDF. So, by forming an alliance with a communal party, the Congress has polarised the elections completely. The BJP's campaign for the assembly polls in the northeastern state will focus on 'surakshya' (security), 'sabhayata' (civilisation) and 'vikas' (development),” said Sarma eplying to a question on the possible impact of the Congress-AIUDF alliance. BJP leader Swapan Dasgupta reacted on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Narendra Modi-Amit Shah is nation's only syndicate remark. He said that the WB Chief Minister has reduced the political campaign to 'political gutter'. "The language she is using, her tone completely out of order," he said. On March 08, the West Bengal Chief Minister slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah by saying they are the only syndicate in the country. West Bengal will go on polls from March 27.
National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has claimed that someone pretending to be the Jharkhand Chief Minister called him and asked him to work for Mamata Banerjee. ‘A few days ago I got a fake call where a person impersonating as Jharkhand Chief Minister asked me to work for Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata and get rupees 50 lakh. I called up Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP who told me tjat Devegowda ji (former PM) got the same call,’ the former J&K CM said. Ahead of Assam assembly elections, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 08 said by doing an alliance with communal party Congress has polarised the election in the state. He said, "By forging alliance with communal party Congress has polarised the election. Had Congress contested separately, polls would have been fought on development issues. But by aligning with AIUDF, Congress has made this poll a conflict of civilizations." Assam assembly elections will be held in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6.
Ahead of the Assembly Election in Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hired five helicopters for the party leaders' campaign. The saffron party is aiming to win 100 plus seats in Assam and has outscored the Congress and other parties in terms of choppers for the election campaign.
