Sunday, 24 January 2021 Pitching for another term for a BJP-led government in Assam to "safeguard" the interests of the state, Union home minister Amit Shah took potshots at Congress-AIUDF saying the alliance would open "all gates" to infiltrators if voted to power. The Congress hit back saying that the BJP's agenda is to destroy Assamese identity through the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Hindutva politics.

During his rally in Assam's Nagaon on February 25, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, not only in Assam, a new development started in entire northeast. There was a time when Assam was known for agitation and violence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did everything to bring prestige to Assam. Bhupen Hazarika was conferred Bharat Ratna.
