Sunday, 24 January 2021 Pitching for another term for a BJP-led government in Assam to "safeguard" the interests of the state, Union home minister Amit Shah took potshots at Congress-AIUDF saying the alliance would open "all gates" to infiltrators if voted to power. The Congress hit back saying that the BJP's agenda is to destroy Assamese identity through the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Hindutva politics.

During his rally in Assam's Nagaon on February 25, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, not only in Assam, a new development started in entire northeast. There was a time when Assam was known for agitation and violence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did everything to bring prestige to Assam. Bhupen Hazarika was conferred Bharat Ratna. Congress leader Tarun Gogoi had also made great contributions. He was given Padma Bhushan in the regime of PM Narendra Modi."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Maha Mrityunjay Temple in Assam's Nagaon on February 25 for 'Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav'. He said, "Assam that was known for agitations, weapons and violence is now known for development, industrial investment, education and tourism. But this journey is incomplete. It is the first stop in new era of development started by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We have to make Assam flood-free, infiltrator-free and violence-free. We have to make Assam and the entire northeast the biggest GDP contributor of the country."
BJP president JP Nadda visited Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's Residence and Museum in Kolkata on February 25. During the launch of 'Lokkho Sonar Bangla (manifesto) crowdsourcing campaign' in Kolkata, BJP chief JP Nadda said over 2 crore suggestions will be taken. He said, "We'll accept over 2 crore suggestions from people. We'll make available approx 30,000 suggestion boxes across WB. Around 100 boxes will be kept in 294 assembly constituencies. Our workers will go from door to door with 50 boxes and 50 will be placed at strategic locations."

Indore police arrested comedian Munawar Faruqui for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by making derogatory comments about Hindu deities.
