COVID: New Zealand bans travellers coming from India

New Zealand temporarily suspended entry for all travellers from India following a surge in COVID-19 cases. The ban comes after it New Zealand reported that 17 of the 23 new COVID-19 cases in managed isolation had arrived from India. "They should start air bubble for students and working people. They can pause tourism for time being," said a passenger at Delhi IGI airport. Another passenger also expressed worry for students and working people stuck in India. The ban will commence on April 11 and will remain in place until April 28. The island nation has reported 2,531 cases so far.

RBI projects CPI inflation for 2021-22 under 5%

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on April 07 announced revised projection for CPI inflation of financial year 2021-22. "The projection for CPI inflation has been revised to 5% in Q4 of 2021, 5.2%, in Q1 of 2021-22, 5.2% also in Q2 of 2021-22, 4.4% in Q3, and 5.1% in Q4 with risks broadly balanced. On March 31, 2021, the government retained the inflation target at 4% with the lower and upper tolerance levels of 2% and 6%, respectively, for the next five years that is from April 2021 to March 2026. An inflation rate of 4% over the medium term has now been successfully entranced the economic landscape," said RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

Scuffle started after Congress leader MP Venkatesan waved a DMK flag in the meeting. Members entered into verbal arguments, started getting physical by pushing one another. Former Puducherry chief minister V Narayanasamy was also present at the meeting. Polling for 30 assembly seats in Puducherry will be held on April 6, results on May 2. Congress has entered into an alliance with DMK, CPI, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). As per seat-sharing agreement, Congress will contest from 15 seats while DMK from 13. CPI and VCK will field their candidates on one seat each in upcoming assembly polls.
