Scotland’s Leadership Has 'Failed', Salmond Tells Inquiry

Alex Salmond has said there is a failure of leadership in Scotland as he attacked First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. In his opening statement to a Holyrood inquiry into the Scottish Government's unlawful investigation of sexual harassment claims made against him, Scotland's former first minister accused his successor Ms Sturgeon of using a Covid press conference to "effectively question the result of a jury". Mr Salmond is testifying on the botched government investigation which was found to be "tainted by apparent bias" by the court. He was acquitted of 13 charges of sexual assault in a criminal trial, and he successfully challenged the lawfulness of the government investigation. The current Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has insisted there was no conspiracy against Mr Salmond, and she is due to appear before the committee to give evidence next week. Rahul Gandhi slams Centre over rising fuel prices; Robert Vadra on bicycle

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hit out at the Modi government over rising fuel prices. Rahul accused the Centre of emptying the pockets of the common man and filling the pockets of its friends for free. “When you see the fast moving meter while filling fuel in your car at the petrol pump, do remember that the crude oil rates have not risen but fallen. Petrol is at Rs 100 a litre. The Modi government is doing the great work of emptying your pockets and filling the pockets of its friends,” the Congress leader tweeted in Hindi. Meanwhile, businessman Robert Vadra rode a bicycle from his Sujan Singh Park residence to his Sukhdev vihar office in protest against the rising fuel prices. “If I have to be people's voice then first I have to change my mode of transport. We can only request Prime Minister to look into the matter,” said Vadra. Youth wing of Shiv Sena also staged protest in Mumbai against rising fuel prices. They put up ‘Yahi Hai Acche Din’ banners comparing prices between 2015 & 2021. Watch the full video for more.
