Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi in Thiruvananthapuram said that Congress-led alliance is sinking in Kerala and BJP will become the most credible alternative in the state. He also alleged that Congress and its state unit have different takes on Sabarimala issue. Elections for 140-member Kerala Assembly will be held on April 6. The counting of votes will be held on May 2.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla held an all-party meeting in his chamber on March 10. The meeting was conducted as the uproar over farmers' protest continued in the lower house. Farooq Abdullah, TMC MP Saugata Roy, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi, NCP MP Supriya Sule, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav attended the meeting.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan demanded legal action against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Viijayan, and used word 'Covidiot' for him. V Muraleedharan said, "'Covidiot' you know what it means. There's no other word that can be used for a CM who continuously violates COVID protocol. As per doctors of Calicut Medical College, Kerala CM tested positive on April 4 and on April 6 voted without following protocols that a primary contact person have to follow even if we consider it was not known to him as COVID positive."
Speaking on 'Love Jihad', Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, V Muraleedharan on March 29 stated that mainstream parties should speak about the issue. "BJP didn't rake up this issue, it's been existing in society. Christian community is worried about marriages happening in the guise of love, which aims at conversion. Mainstream parties should speak about the issue," Muraleedharan told ANI. Earlier, Jose K Mani, the chairman of regional Christian party, raked up the alleged "love jihad" issue in comments ahead of the Kerala Assembly election.
