Saturday, 27 February 2021 Effecting an important change in the West Bengal police brass after the announcement of assembly polls, the Election Commission on Saturday approved the replacement of ADG & IGP (law and order) and state nodal police officer Jawed Shamim with Jag Mohan, serving as DG (fire services) in the state, “with immediate effect in the interest of public service”.
West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has just lost one of her brothers today to the Corona pandemic. Her brother, Mr Asim Bandhopadhyay who was mostly known as Kali Bandhopadhyay, contracted the virus and was being treated for a month. He was admitted to Kolkata's Medica Superspecialty Hospital.

After the results were declared yesterday, Banerjee claimed that her party would move the constitution bench of the Supreme Court against the Election Commission of India. This came after Mamata Banerjee lost the Nandigram constituency to BJP's Suvendu Adhikari by a margin of 1,956 votes.

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee who, according to Election Commission was seen trailing BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, on May 02 said, "Don't worry for Nandigram, for struggle you have to sacrifice something. I struggled for Nandigram because I fought a movement. It's ok. Let the Nandigram people give whatever verdict they want, I accept that."

In a disturbing development, an email threatening the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath was received by the Central Reserve Police Force in Mumbai. The email was forwarded to Central and Maharashtra agencies for investigation, said Kuldiep Singh, DG, CRPF. The email reportedly threatened a suicide attack against the BJP leaders. Sanjay Pandey, who has been replaced by Param Bir Singh as the DG of Home Guards, has expressed disappointment with his transfer to Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC) department as DG, and wrote a letter to state government to voice his concern. He said that his transfer is "unjust and his seniority has been overlooked." "Not just current government but previous government has also been unjust to me. The seniority was overlooked while making transfers and appointment among senior ranks. The current government's actions aren't as per Supreme Court orders. As Police Officer, DCP Zone 8 in 1993, I conducted a just investigation against the party (Shiv Sena) in areas near Kherwadi... The government is too large a body to settle scores with me.
