In a disturbing development, an email threatening the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath was received by the Central Reserve Police Force in Mumbai. The email was forwarded to Central and Maharashtra agencies for investigation, said Kuldiep Singh, DG, CRPF. The email reportedly threatened a suicide attack against the BJP leaders. BJP’s Kerala Chief K surendran has said that the party will bring ‘Love Jihad’ legislation if they are elected to power in the state. He further alleged that the ISIS is targeting Hindu and Christian girls in Kerala. ‘ISIS is targeting Hindu-Christian girls especially students. Why are they sending couples to Syria if there is no love jihad? Surendran said. Speaking on 'Love Jihad', Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, V Muraleedharan on March 29 stated that mainstream parties should speak about the issue. "BJP didn't rake up this issue, it's been existing in society. Christian community is worried about marriages happening in the guise of love, which aims at conversion. Mainstream parties should speak about the issue," Muraleedharan told ANI. Earlier, Jose K Mani, the chairman of regional Christian party, raked up the alleged "love jihad" issue in comments ahead of the Kerala Assembly election.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday released the election manifesto for the Bharatiya Janta Party for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, which promises new legislation for Sabrimala, at least one job for every family, six gas cylinders for BPL families and free laptops for high school students. The manifesto promises housing, drinking water and power for all, legislation to put an end to Love Jihad, minimum wages in all sectors, ex-gratia of Rs 5,000 per month to a family if the sole breadwinner becomes ill and unable to work. In the ongoing fourth phase of West Bengal Assembly elections, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly cast his vote at a polling booth in Behala constituency of South 24 Parganas district. A total of 1,15,81,022 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in this fourth phase of assembly election. The fifth phase of the assembly elections will commence on April 17. Counting of votes will take place on May 02.
Reacting to the firing incident in WB's Cooch Behar where four people died during polling for the fourth phase of assembly elections, TMC leader Saugata Roy on April 10 said, "Why did the Central Armed Police Forces fire? Soon after TMC poll strategist Prashant Kishor audio clip leaked in which he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee equally popular in the Bengal Assembly polls, two time former TMC MLA and now BJP leader Rajib Banerjee said that Kishor strategy has failed in Bengal. "Prashant Kishor's strategy will not work in Bengal, his strategy has failed. TMC has finished here. In Bengal, only Narendra Modi's strategy will work," said BJP's Banerjee.
After a leaked audio of TMC's poll strategist Prashant Kishor surfaced out in which he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee equally popular among the Bengal Assembly polls. Citing the leaked audio of Prashant Kishor, BJP leader and candidate from Chunchura constituency Locket Chatterjee said that even Prashant Kishor knows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is best and 'sonar Bangla' will be made under his leadership. TMC candidate from Natabari constituency in Cooch Behar, Rabindra Nath Ghosh was seen wearing a helmet on the morning of April 10. Ghosh said that he was wearing the helmet to avoid any untoward incident. State polls are underway in 44 constituencies.
