Expelled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader VK Sasikala on March 29 visited Ramanathaswamy Temple in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram. She performed puja at the temple. Sasikala, who was released from a Bangalore jail, few months back, has also left politics.
Former AIADMK General Secretary who served a sentence on corruption charges, VK Sasikala has announced she will step away from politics and the public life. Nation remembered former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa on her 73rd birth anniversary. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to the former AIADMK veteran for her services to people. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam paid floral tributes to Jayalalithaa. AIADMK marked the occasion by organising state-wide events like medical camps, etc. VK Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran also paid floral tributes to 'Amma' in Chennai. Born in 1948, Jayalalithaa served five terms as the CM of Tamil Nadu between 1991-2016.

As five states of India is undergoing assembly elections, BJP chief JP Nadda said the party is confident of gaining power. He added that signals from West Bengal clearly states that BJP is walking towards victory. "In Tamil Nadu, under the leadership of AIADMK we are forming the government. The signals in the two phases of West Bengal clearly have shown that BJP is heading towards victory," said BJP's JP Nadda in Chennai. He added, "In Assam, we are retaining the government of NDA along with UPPL and AGP. In Puducherry also we are making a clear way of formation of the government. In Kerala, we will be a formidable force."
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on April 03 held a roadshow in Bodinayakanur in Theni district. Panneerselvam offered prayers at a temple before the roadshow. Large number of people turned up to support AIADMK. Elections in Tamil Nadu for 234 seats will be held on April 6. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday attacked the DMK-Congress combine over "corruption and dynasty" and said only the AIADMK-BJP alliance can "protect" those who believe in the culture of Tamil Nadu. "Only the AIADMK-BJP alliance can protect Tamil Nadu's fishermen, unemployed youth, women, and all those having faith in Tamil Nadu's culture," he said in Chennai. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP K Kanimozhi, who has tested positive for COVID-19, on Tuesday cast her vote for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections while wearing a Personal protective equipment (PPE) kit. The DMK leader voted at a polling station in Mylapore. "I tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, I was advised to isolate. Have been receiving medical care in a hospital. I thank all those who have sent me messages and expressed concern for my well-being," the DMK leader had tweeted on Monday.
