Prime Minister Narendra Modi held meeting with Chief Ministers on the current COVID19 situation on April 08 via video conferencing. Terming the second wave a grave concern, PM Modi said, "We need to fight the second surge in cases. Many states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Punjab have crossed first wave of peak in COVID-19 cases. This is a serious concern and people have become complacent. In most States administration has also become relaxed." PM Modi said that there is need to work on war footing again to fight COVID-19. "Despite all the challenges, we have a better experience, resources and a vaccine," he added.
Delhi Police has arrested one ganja supplier Krishan Jha. Accused Krishan Kha was involved in supplying ganja in various parts of the capital.In the month of February this year, one Shashi Bhushan was arrested with the recovery of illegal ganja weighing around 8 Kg. During interrogation, accused Shashi Bhushan disclosed that he was a carrier and the recovered illegal ganja belonged to Krishan Jha and Vikas. The efforts were made to nab both of them but they evaded their arrest. Hence, Non-bailable warrant against both of them was issued by the Court. After strenuous efforts, the accused was arrested from his hide out in Najafgarh, Delhi. During sustained interrogation, Krishan Jha disclosed that Vikas supplied ganja to him. Further efforts are being made to nab the co-accused Vikas, who is still absconding.
Delhi Police Crime branch apprehended four notorious burglars. The burglars were nabbed after the Crime Branch received a tip-off that some burglars would gather at Siri Fort Road, and might commit a burglary or dacoity in the posh area of Hauz Khas. Acting upon the information, the police team conducted a raid and apprehended all the accused. The accused persons hail from Bangladesh. In the last few years they have settled illegally in many parts of India. Due to lack of education and greed for money they have started committing thefts. The accused committed several crimes across the country. They carried weapons with them. The accused used to reside on a rented room, away from the city. They have committed many burglaries in Faridabad, Jodhpur, Aurangabad, Gulbarga, Wapi, Bangaluru, Pune and Mumbai. Further investigation regarding the case is underway.
In the wake of rising Covid-29 cases, Delhi government on Tuesday imposed night curfew in the national capital from 10 pm to 5 am till April 30. Only essential services will be allowed in that seven-hour window. Delhi police PRO Chinmoy Biswal said that fresh movement passes will be issued for essential services and whoever is willing to apply for it can also visit Delhi Police website. “In wake of rising cases, DDMA decided to impose night curfew from 10pm to 5 am. We will strictly enforce the order issued, except for the exempted category. Delhi Police will issue fresh movement passes for essential services on demand. Those willing to apply for movement pass, can also visit Delhi Police website,” he said. Delhi government's decision to impose night curfew comes after the Capital recorded more than 3,540 new cases on Monday.

Delhi police has made another arrest in connection with the incident at Red Fort on Republic Day. Maninder Singh, who was allegedly swinging swords that ‘motivated’ protesters at the Red Fort, was arrested from Pitampura in the capital. ‘Singh was seen in a video swinging two swords at Red Fort with intent to motivate or radicalise and energise the violent anti-national elements indulging in brutal assault or attack on police persons on duty with swords, 'khandas', iron rods, axes, 'barsaas', sticks etc and damaging historical monument Red Fort on Republic Day,’ police said in a statement. Earlier, Deep Sidhu and Iqbal Singh had also been arrested in connection with the case. Over 120 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence across Delhi on January 26.
