Home Minister Amit Shah today conducted roadshow in Krishnanagar ahead of 5th phase of West Bengal assembly elections. Massive crowd joined the roadshow despite surging cases of coronavirus in the country, Today, Election Commission had called for all-party meeting in West Bengal to ensure strict implementation of COVID guidelines.
Amid West Bengal polls, a TMC delegation will meet the Election Commission to highlight that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are "creating differences"among people of different caste and creed. TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee said, "We are going to highlight that PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are creating differences among people of different caste and creed. They are making provocative statements. We're also condemning PM Modi's way of delivering speech. It is below the standard of a Prime Minister. It is very unfortunate that Election Commission has not taken any cognizance of it till now."
While speaking to ANI, 15 Corps (Srinagar) Commander Lt Gen DP Pandey said that Pakistan Army used ceasefire violations to assist infiltrations but it is now reduced after the agreement between India and Pakistan. He also emphasised that current terrorist attacks have not been led by Pakistan but it is instigating local terrorists in Kashmir valley. "Ceasefire was announced about 2 months back and both sides (India and Pakistan) are adhering to norms, but we shouldn't draw too many conclusions. In about another month or two, we'll get to see the impact of this ceasefire in Kashmir. The numbers of (terror) incidents are on decline, they're virtually half, as compared to last year. Pakistan Army used ceasefire violations primarily to assist infiltrations; currently what we observe is adherence and reduction," said Lt Gen DP Pandey. He further said, "Pakistan's objective in terms of facilitating terrorism in Kashmir hasn't changed, but their intent to indigenize it has changed. For last few years, Pakistan terrorists aren't leading attacks, but primarily instigating local terrorists."
Ahead of Assembly elections in Kerala, Finance Minister and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman held a roadshow at Kuthuparamba in Kannur district and accused Left of doing politics of violence in Kerala and Bengal. "You vote for BJP, you won't be given water and won't be allowed to open business in your village. Your survival is at stake. Their politics depend on corruption, violence and appeasement of minorities. Left is doing politics of violence in Kerala and Bengal," said Finance Minister. Assembly elections for 140 constituencies will be held on April 6.
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on March 24 said that the response of Assam people was very good in support of the campaign against CAA led by the party. He also mentioned that CAA is a central legislation, not a Bengal-based law after BJP mentioned it in their West Bengal's election manifesto, but skipped the same for Assam. "We had launched anti-CAA protest by asking people to donate 'gamosa', while BJP is deceiving people. In Bengal, their manifesto mentions CAA, but in Assam, it has no mention. CAA is a central law, not a Bengal based law, Why BJP is using CAA in 1 and excluding in another byte," the Congress leader said.

First, it was Congress, then Left, and now TMC, who have blocked state's development," said PM Modi during his rally in Kharagpur on March 20. WhatsApp, Instagram services were down for thousands of users worldwide for over 30 minutes on March 19.
After an all-party meeting with Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal Aariz Aftab on April 16, the BJP leader Sawapan Dasgupta said that they have advised the Election Commission to balance robust democratic culture with safety norms. "We've advised the Election Commission to balance the need for a robust democratic culture with safety norms. It is up to the Election Commission to tell us what exactly political parties must do. We've assured them that we'll adhere to protocols," said Swapan Dasgupta.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has called an all-party meeting to ensure implementation of COVID-19 norms during election rallies.
