Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari has been kept in highly-secured isolation barrack in the District Jail Banda, the authorities are monitoring him 24*7 via CCTV. DG (Prisons) Anand Kumar is also personally monitoring the jail. The gangster-turned-politician was brought to District Jail Banda from Punjab's Ropar Jail on April 07 by Uttar Pradesh special security team.

UP Police had gone to Punjab's Rupnagar jail on April 06 to take the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA in its custody. On March 26th, the Supreme Court (SC) had ordered his transfer to UP jail and face trials there.

Police crackdown in Kanpur, Indore over black marketing of remdesivir

Amid the shortage of anti-viral drug remdesivir in the country, police in Indore and Kanpur have begun a crackdown on the black marketing of the life-saving medicine. Indore Special Task Force (STF) on April 15 arrested three people for their alleged role in black marketing of remdesivir and recovered six injections of the anti-viral drug. Police said the accused used to sell these injections for around Rs 20,000 per dose, way higher than the market price. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh Police recovered around 265 injections of remdesivir from three accused in Kanpur. Remdesivir injections are said to be life-saving for critical patients of COVID-19.

Uttar Pradesh Sunday lockdown: Strict vigil by cops at Delhi-Noida border

UP Police ensured strict implementation of Sunday lockdown at Noida-Delhi border. Cops were seen checking passes of vehicles as they crossed Noida-Delhi border. Uttar Pradesh has announced a lockdown every Sunday across the state till May 15. Shops, markets, offices will remain closed from Saturday 8pm till Monday 7am. Only essential services will be available. Public transports, including state transport buses, will run with a 50 % capacity. A fine of Rs 1000 for not wearing mask will be imposed on first-time offenders. Sunday lockdown was announced in order to curb the spread of Covid-19. Watch the full video for more.
