Central agencies being misused to target political rivals: Shiv Sena
Wednesday, 7 April 2021 () An editorial in the Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' said the Bombay high court had pulled up senior police officer Param Bir Singh over his allegations of corruption against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, but took cognisance of charges in a separate petition filed by one Jayshri Patil.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut demanded for special session of Parliament to keep an open discussion with government of all states due to prevailing COVID-19 situation. "I have demanded a special session of Parliament because I have been speaking to political leaders of the country. They say situation of COVID-19 is grim in their states too. So, if government calls a special session, there will be open discussion on the COVID-19 situation of all states," said Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.

At present, Maharashtra is also struggling with a shortage of medical oxygen and Remdesivir.

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the petitions filed by the Maharashtra government and its former home minister Anil Deshmukh challenging the Bombay High Court order directing a preliminary enquiry by the CBI into the allegations of corruption and misconduct levelled against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh. The bench in its order stated, "Nature of allegations and personas involved needs an enquiry by an independent agency. It is a matter of public confidence. We are not inclined to entertain this. dismissed." "They are closely working together till they fall apart, both holding a particular position. Then should the CBI not investigate?" the bench asked. Reacting to the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, the BJP said the NCP leader Sharad Pawar must have understood the implications of giving a clean chit to Deshmukh who tendered his resignation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on April 05.
