DMK president MK Stalin was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Friday. Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered oath to 68-year old Stalin at Raj Bhavan in Chennai. Along with the DMK chief, 33 other ministers from his party also took the oath. The names include 19 former ministers & 15 new faces excluding Stalin's son Udhayanidhi. AIADMK's O Panneerselvam, Congress' P Chidambaram, MDMK chief Vaiko attended ceremony. The ceremony witnessed adherence to Covid-19 guidelines including wearing masks. DMK had fought the elections with its allies & got an absolute majority on its own.

Former union home minister and veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram on April 20 lashed out at the Centre for not fixing the price of vaccine. He also said that by not fixing price, the government is paving the way to unhealthy price bidding and profiteer. "States with limited resources will be at a considerable disadvantage," he added.
Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth casts his vote in Chennai as polling underway in Tamil Nadu. Rajinikanth was seen at a polling booth in Stella Maris College. Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan, who is contesting from the Coimbatore South assembly constituency, also cast his vote. The MNM chief's daughters actors Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan also exercised their votes. Former Union Finance Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram cast his vote in Tamil Nadu’s Kandanur. Polling across 234 assembly constituencies in 38 districts of Tamil Nadu is underway in the state. A total of 3,998 candidates are in the poll fray. Delhi govt to give free ration and extend financial help to those hit by Covid lockdown. CM Kejriwal said govt will give free ration for two months to all ration card holders. Kejriwal said govt will extend financial help of Rs 5,000 to auto-rickshaw & taxi drivers. “Delhi govt will give free ration for two months to 72 lakh ration card holders. This does not mean that the lockdown will continue for two months. Decision has been taken to help those going through financial crisis. Govt will extend financial help of Rs 5,000 to auto-rickshaw & taxi drivers. Last year too, we had helped more than 1.5 lakh such drivers in Delhi,” he said. Delhi is under lockdown till May 10 due to a steep surge in number of Covid cases.
