As the country is reeling under the horrific second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, locals in Shivamogga thronged the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) market turning eyes from COVID-19 protocols. COVID protocols including social distancing norms were flouted at the market. Karnataka is observing Janta Curfew during the weekend to curb the spread of the virus. A two-week lockdown will remain in place across the state between May 10 andMay 24.
In view of the rapid surge in COVID-19 infection, Goa government had announced a two-week curfew in the state from May 9 till May 23. Essential services have been exempted, grocery shops are allowed to remain open from 7am-1pm and for restaurant only takeaway orders are allowed from 7am- 7pm. RT-PCR negative test report or vaccination (both doses) certificate has been made mandatory for tourists visiting Goa.
India reported 4,03,738 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With 37,36,648 total active cases, COVID caseload of the country stood at 2,22,96,414. 4,092 new deaths took the death toll to 2,42,362 . In last 24 hours, 3,86,444 people have won the battle against the diseases. Phase 3 vaccination drive is underway across country. So far 16,94,39,663 vaccine doses have been inoculated.
