From Rs 10cr, J&K’s earnings from liquor licence auction jumps to Rs 140cr

Jammu and Kashmir has logged a whopping rise in its earnings from the auction of 228 location-specific permits for liquor vends — from around Rs 10 crores in previous years to Rs 140 crores this time — courtesy its new liquor policy.

3 Al-Badr terrorists killed, one surrendered in J&K’s Shopian encounter

Three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 6. The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kanigam area of the South Kashmir district during the night following information about the presence of terrorists. An official said as the presence of four newly recruited terrorists of Al-Badr outfit got ascertained, the security forces exercised maximum restraint and tried their best to persuade them to surrender. The terrorists turned down the offer to surrender and opened fire. However, one terrorist identified as Tausif Ahmad surrendered. Watch the full video for more.

Budgam soon to get 500-bedded COVID hospital

The second wave of COVID has ravaged the country and the cases are continuously increasing in Jammu and Kashmir as well. Amid the devastation, DRDO in association with JandK administration started construction of 500-bedded COVID hospital in Budgam. All beds will be supported with supply of medical oxygen. There will be 125 fully-equipped ICU beds for COVID patients and 50-double room accommodation facility for doctors and paramedics staff. Locals appreciated this step of govt and extended full support towards it.
