India reports 37,379 new Covid cases and 124 deaths; Omicron tally at 1,892
Tuesday, 4 January 2022 India on Tuesday reported 37,379 new Covid cases, the highest since early September while the active cases rose to 1,71,830, according to the Union health ministry data. There are 1,892 Omicron cases in India with 23 states reporting the new Covid-19 strain. Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with 568 cases followed by Delhi, which has 382 infections.
According to the Union Health ministry's data, India added 27,553 fresh Covid cases and 284 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. India has logged 1,525 cases of the Omicron variant.
