NBC reports that a heat wave
has smashed previous national records
for high temperatures across Europe this winter.
In several European states, January temperatures
reached all-time highs, with
records being set in at least seven nations.
On January 1, the Polish capital
of Warsaw saw temperatures
as high as 66 degrees Fahrenheit.
Meanwhile, even higher temperatures
were recorded in the northern
Spanish city of Bilbao and in Switzerland. .
The unseasonably warm weather has also forced
some low-altitude ski resorts in the Alps and French
Pyrenees to close down just weeks after opening.
