'The Independent' reports that Julian Assange
has appealed the decision to allow
him to be extradited to the United States.
On July 1, supporters staged protests
on the eve of the imprisoned
activist's 51st birthday.
Among those gathered outside
the Home Office in central London
was the WikiLeaks founder's wife, Stella. .
According to 'The Independent,' the protests were meant to step up calls and public support for Assange to be released from prison.
Assange is currently being held in
Belmarsh Prison in London while the courts
decide whether he can be extradited.
