Unequivocally, the protesters demanded that the scheme be rolled back and all existing benefits extended to those joining the Army through short service commission be restored. “How is it fair to ask us to retire after just four years of service? If the government doesn’t want to give us pension or treat us as ex-servicemen, then what is the purpose of joining the Army?” said Rakesh.
