Amarnath Yatra: Indian Army rebuilds bridges devastated by landslides on Baltal route in record time
Saturday, 2 July 2022 A rapid rise in temperature caused the Nalas to surge at Kalimata on the Baltal road, resulting in the landslides that swept away the bridges.
A cloudburst which struck close to the Amarnath shrine on Friday has left a trail of disaster and a story of harrowing experiences. According to the recent updates, 17 people are confirmed dead and around 40 still remain missing. The Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police troops began conducting the rescue operations early this morning which are still on.

In a tragic and horrendous incident on Friday afternoon, at least 17 people lost their lives and many still remain missing post a cloudburst near the Amarnath shrine and the subsequent flash floods. Gushing water washed down the base camps at Baltal and wrecked havoc on ground. Indian army, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF are on duty since the floods broke out and rescue operations are underway in full swing. A cloudburst above the Amarnath shrine on late Friday afternoon has left 13 pilgrims dead and more than 40 are still missing, according to the reports. Gushing water washed away around three community kitchens and 25 tents at the base camp in Baltal, 92km from Srinagar. The pilgrimage had resumed after two years, post the pandemic.
