‘Syrups linked to deaths in Gambia not sold here’

None of the four drugs potentially linked to the death of 66 children in Gambia are being sold in India currently, the Union health ministry has clarified. According to the ministry, preliminary investigations have revealed that Maiden Pharmaceutical Limited — the manufacturer of the drugs in question had permission only for export of these products and that the company had manufactured and exported them only to Gambia.
